Abstract: currently, with the development of various technologies, with the desire ofpeople to live in megacities, the whole world needs to improve environmental conditions. This article discusses the basics of "green" construction. The "green construction" solution is completely new and is the opposite of the monotonous technological, mechanistic approach to ensuring environmental sustainability. Keywords: green construction, sustainable development, energy efficiency, environment.

Currently, there is an intensive development of cities all over the world, and as we know, construction has a significant impact on the environment. There is a decrease in the area of green spaces, pollution of the atmosphere, water resources and soil due to various emissions, discharges and accumulation of various construction waste. Dusting, gas and thermal air pollution is also carried out, which in turn leads to a change in radiation levels, precipitation, changes in air temperature and wind conditions.
The desire to reduce the negative impact on the environment gave impetus to the development of a new type of construction, which was called "green". This is a type of construction and operation of buildings that includes a set of principles, such as [1]:
• energy efficiency of a building is the use of energy-efficient materials, energy-saving technologies (lamps, windows), the use of alternative energy sources (solar, wind, earth heat, etc.), accounting for water consumption;
• transport accessibility is both the proximity of public transport and the use of alternative modes of transport;
• landscaping and landscaping is the regeneration of the land occupied for construction, the availability of green spaces, as well as the availability of the necessary infrastructure;
The state is the main interested party in the development of the construction of green buildings. Rating assessment systems not only contain the requirements of existing regulatory documents, but primarily orient and stimulate the solution of state tasks aimed at improving the environmental situation, reducing the harmful impact on the environment during the construction and operation of buildings [2].
Green building councils, specially created non-profit organizations are engaged in the development and implementation of green standards. Currently, more than 30 countries are successfully developing the construction of green buildings and have national rating systems for their certification.
In our country, "green" construction has been actively developed since 2013. The essence of the development of the national standard is to reformulate only those conceptual recommendations of generally accepted systems of environmental assessment of real estate objects that the domestic design and construction industry can implement in practice.
The main objectives of "green" construction in Kazakhstan [3]:
• to improve the quality of human habitat;
• achieve a high level of comfort;
• reduce and dispose of emissions and waste;
• stimulate the development of production of efficient and environmentally friendly equipment and materials in Kazakhstan;
An important feature of green construction at present is the possibility of saving electricity. A building constructed in accordance with green technologies is energy efficient. Alternative, environmentally safe sources are used. Wind and solar energy sources have gained the greatest popularity among them.
Construction is one of the largest sectors of the economy, and the demand for new and renovated buildings and infrastructure will support the industry for many years to come. With such an important role in society, construction has a responsibility to be a leader in implementing sustainable methods and limiting environmental impacts. As the long-term consequences of our actions become more and more significant, green construction will continue to grow and become the new standard.
