Literary heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy attracted the attention of famous orientalists such as A. Hodzko, Y.E. Bertels, W.W. Bartold, N. Samoylovich, A. Wambery, Academician Krymski, not long after his lifetime. Academician Krymskiy wrote: "Magtymguly, the son of Mullah poet Dovletmammet Azadi, became more
famous among the Turkmen in the second half of the 18th century. He is considered equally valuable for all Turkmen tribes and is considered a common national poet. There is no such unified national poet among the Turkic peoples. There are already a lot of stories about Magtymguly's personality" [3, 394 p.].
Professor Y.E. Bertel said: "Magtymguly is one of the precious stones in Turkmen poetry, and it shines brightly in our era as the crystal of a new ring" [1, 10 p.]. Magtymguly Pyragy created a huge revolution in Turkmen literature. Studying indelible examples of the folk art of the intelligent poet and the richness of Turkmen language, adapting the literature to the needs of the people and popularizing it became a new page in Turkmen literature. He develops the humanist ideas of the poets who had considered before him. Mati Kosayev who studied the literary heritage of the poet thoroughly says in his scientific views: "The school created by the great poet can be highly respected by the people" [2, 20 p.].
Literary legacy of the wise poet to foreign languages at different times made it relevant to study the valuable works in different spheres. His translation spread the humanitarian principle of the Turkmen people, which was reflected in his poems, to the world. He introduced the peoples of the world to the immortal patriotic song of Magtymguly Pyragy. For example, consider the English translation of the poem "Turkmen" by the wise poet:
Between the Jeyhun and the Khazar sea, Over the desert blows the breeze of the Turkmen. Its rose-bud is the pupil of my black eye From the dark mountain descends the river of the Turkmen. In this stanza, Magtymguly Pyragy's Turkmen nature and his soul are tender the connection is expressed artistically. The theme of patriotism, which is the main emphasis in the poems of the wise poet, is effectively brought to the fore in the English language. Magtymguly Pyragy:
He is the son of a hero - a hero his father, Goroghli his brother, drunken his head, Should they pursue him on mountain or plain,
The hunters cannot take him alive, this panther's son is the Turkmen. Gorogly Beg, who is mentioned in the paragraph, known for his bravery in Turkmen literature as a symbol of bravery and patriotism, and being the main character of the heroic epic "Gorogly" of the Turkmen people, the national qualities of the Turkmen are concentrated in his artistic image. In the poem of Magtymguly Pyragy, Gorogly Beg's artistic image is turned into a Turkmen epic famous in the East. It means that it is closely related to the history, lifestyle, and aspirations of the people. In the following verse:
Hearts, breasts and heads are at one,
When he holds a gathering earth and mountains crumble.
When food is prepared at one table,
Exalted is the destiny of the Turkmen.
The poet's encouragement of unity by saying "when food is prepared at one table" strengthens the concept of friendship and brotherhood among all mankind. He sets out in high spirits, sorrow feels not, He smashes through rocks, his way is not blocked My eyes alight on none else, nor will my heart rejoice elsewhere, Magtymguly speaks in the tongue of the Turkmen.
The wise poet who wrote his famous lines took a worthy place among A.S. Pushkin, W. Shakespeare and others in world literature.
Aleksandr Hodzko-Boreiko introduced Magtymguly Pyragy's poems to world literature for the first time. In 1842, he published thrpoems of the poet with a short biography in London. The value of this service completed by A. Hodzko for Turkmen literature is limitless. Aleksandr Hodzko-Boreyko not only introduced Europe to religion with the poems of Magtymguly Pyragy, but also made his creative world the centre of attention of orientalists.
Two poems of Magtymguly Pyragy were translated into Russian in 1872 by F.A. Bakulin. The services of A. Tarkovsky, M. Tarlovsky, Y. Gordienko should also be mentioned in translating the poet's poems into Russian. Also, academician A.N. Samoylovich and professor I.N. Berezi's work in studying the life and creativity of
the wise poet deserve great respect. When these scientists worked on the translation of Magtymguly Pyragy's poems into Russian, they used special methods and managed to preserve the meaning and artistry of the original poems. Hungarian scientist A. Vamberi working on his manuscripts published thirty-one of his poems in Leipzig in 1879. A collection of Magtymguly Pyragy's poems was also collected by N.P. Ostrovnov and published in Tashkent in 1911 in the Arabic alphabet.
