In today's globalized world, journalism students are expected to possess strong language skills to effectively communicate and report on international events. The ability to understand and communicate in foreign languages has become increasingly valuable in the field of journalism. With the rapid advancement of technology, electronic platforms have emerged as powerful tools for teaching foreign languages and enhancing language skills among journalism students. This article explores the various ways in which electronic platforms benefit journalism students in learning foreign languages and improving their language proficiency.

Technology Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) has been extensively studied and acknowledged for its numerous benefits, as highlighted by Carr et al., Chirimbu and Tafazoli, Patel, and Ye§ilel. As a result, the field has garnered significant attention. TELL provides individuals with the opportunity to connect various sources of knowledge and educational resources. Today's teenagers and young adults have unrestricted access to constantly evolving state-of-the-art technologies, which greatly enhance their communication and educational capabilities. Therefore, integrating technology that aligns with their daily lives is highly efficient.

Contemporary societies impose high expectations on individuals across various domains of life. These expectations emphasize the development of essential skills that go beyond mere knowledge and abilities. Competency entails effectively leveraging one's psychosocial resources, such as talents and attitudes, to successfully meet complex demands within specific contexts. For example, effective communication skills require linguistic proficiency, experience in real-life communication situations, and an understanding of the individuals involved. Tseng suggests that technology can significantly impact

language acquisition in areas such as phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, translation, auditory comprehension, literature appreciation, and assessment.

According to Asllani and Pagarizi, technology-based vocabulary learning can be adaptable and efficient. With the continuous advancements in internet-based technology, an increasing number of individuals are turning to it to enhance their English vocabulary.

The utilization of Technology Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) comes with both advantages and disadvantages. Extensive research has shown the numerous benefits of language education and learning. TELL caters to a wider range of learning methods and student preferences compared to traditional textbooks, providing a more comprehensive learning experience. Students can set their own learning goals, progress at their own pace, and choose relevant content, empowering them with a sense of freedom and autonomy. TELL activities simulate real-world scenarios, enhancing student engagement and motivation. This immersive approach enables students to deepen their understanding of the target language and culture, acquire new languages, and develop cross-cultural appreciation.

Despite the benefits, it is essential to consider the drawbacks of implementing TELL. Before incorporating TELL in classrooms, educators and students need a foundational understanding of technological concepts. The effectiveness of guiding students in utilizing technology for language learning depends on the teacher's familiarity with its usage. Secondly, integrating online materials into an effective language course can be challenging. Thirdly, students may prioritize the tools and resources provided by technology over the actual material being taught, which can deviate from the desired educational outcomes. Lastly, technological issues may disrupt the flow of language classes. Unfortunately, digital technology is susceptible to disruptions such as power outages or emergencies, compromising its reliability.

TELL offers numerous benefits, including diverse learning opportunities and increased student engagement. However, challenges such as technological literacy, integration issues, potential distractions, and technical interruptions need to be taken into account when implementing TELL in language education settings.

The integration of electronic platforms in language learning has proven to be highly beneficial for journalism students. These platforms offer a wide range of resources that cater to different learning styles and preferences. From interactive exercises and multimedia materials to language learning apps and online communities, students have access to a wealth of tools that enhance their language acquisition process.

Flexibility is another advantage offered by electronic platforms. Journalism students often have busy schedules due to their coursework and internships. Electronic platforms provide the flexibility to learn at their own pace and convenience, allowing them to fit language learning into their demanding routines. Whether it's accessing lessons and materials at any time or participating in online discussions and language exchanges,

students have the freedom to choose when and how they engage with their language studies.

Personalization is a key aspect of electronic platforms. These platforms utilize adaptive learning technologies that tailor the learning experience to each individual student's needs. Through assessments and data analysis, students receive personalized feedback and recommendations, ensuring that they focus on areas that require improvement. This personalized instruction facilitates faster progress and increased motivation among journalism students.

Collaboration is also fostered through electronic platforms. Students can connect with peers and native speakers from around the world, engaging in virtual language exchanges and group projects. This collaborative learning environment not only enhances language skills but also promotes cultural understanding and global perspectives. Journalism students can learn from diverse voices and gain insights into different journalistic practices and perspectives.

Furthermore, electronic platforms provide real-world language application opportunities. Students can access authentic materials such as news articles, interviews, and podcasts, allowing them to develop their comprehension skills and stay updated with current events. By engaging with real-world language use, journalism students are better prepared to communicate and report on international news effectively. In conclusion, electronic platforms offer numerous benefits for journalism students in learning foreign languages and enhancing their language skills. The integration of these platforms provides access to diverse resources, flexibility, interactivity, personalization, collaboration, and real-world language application. By embracing electronic platforms, journalism educators can create dynamic and engaging language learning experiences that prepare students for the linguistic demands of the globalized media landscape.

As technology continues to advance, it is crucial for journalism students to adapt and leverage electronic platforms to their advantage. These platforms not only facilitate language acquisition but also instill important skills such as critical thinking, cross-cultural communication, and digital literacy. By equipping journalism students with strong language skills, educators empower them to effectively navigate the complexities of the modern media landscape and communicate with diverse audiences.

As we move forward, it is essential for educational institutions to prioritize the integration of electronic platforms in language learning curricula. By providing journalism students with access to innovative and effective language learning tools, we can ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in their careers as global communicators. With the continuous evolution of electronic platforms, the possibilities for enhancing language skills in journalism are endless, and it is up to educators and institutions to embrace these opportunities and propel language learning to new heights.
