Abstract: in this thesis we will discuss variety of considerations on journalism. There is still a problem about the theory of genre in literary science. It is updated and being approached by the researchers. Even if journalism is a production, it is also a kind of cultural phenomenon. Thus, journalism helps to conduct philogical analysis and literary studies of specific works.

Keywords: literary science, revitalization, paradoxical genre, stylistic analysis, news factory, artistic-journalistic genre.

Researchers note that the problem of the theory of the genre has been in the focus of intense attention of literary science for decades. The core of the problem is questions about the nature of the genre, about its borders and evolution, about the sources of "revitalization" and the causes of the "death" of various genres. Thinking about this, scientifics substantiated the theory of oblivion and revival of genre structures, based on a concentric model of literature, organized on the principle of contrasting the "center" and "periphery". Moving inside this structure, the genre is forgotten or dies, moving away from the center, and is updated, approaching it.

However, it seems that it is unproductive to mix the genres of journalism, PR and advertising in one typology, because all these are different spheres of activity and the genre typology, respectively, will be different in each of them. These are such criteria as features of the structure of the narrative, determining the place of a fact in the narrative, understanding the figurative structure of the narrative, knowledge of the specifics of the development of the problem (conflict), etc. But for an accurate and practical typology such criteria are needed, more precisely (preferably) one criterion that would determine all of the above.

It seems that the basis of this typology is the idea of journalism as a predominantly "informing" social institution. And, speaking more broadly and more precisely, massively distributed in the 90s. The twentieth century, the foremost in production is the myth of journalism as a news factory (remember the famous NTV slogan: Our profession is news!). However, journalism is not news. Not the production of goods - information. It fundamentally does not apply to the sphere of trade and monetary relations. Relating it to the sphere of culture, it can be argued that, being a cultural phenomenon, even if it is a production, it is the production of a spiritual product, not a commodity, like a missionary institution or fiction. The super task of a journalist is to change, develop the elements of culture, create its value-normative coordinates, and culturally equip social processes. Journalism, if you like, is ideological missionary work, and not a portion sale of "information air".

The same can be said of the "stylistic" analysis of journalistic texts. This is an important area of scientific research, but on the basis of individual stylistic features it is hardly possible and rational to try to build a genre typology, as well as a separate theory of the genre. "Essays: a stylistic portrait", where the author, after very "free" interpretations of scientific works on the theory of essays, nevertheless departs from them and, "plunging" into the "paradoxical" and "spontaneous" process of "essayist comprehension", states: "An essay is a paradoxical genre. It is almost impossible to classify. And all attempts to give schemes and instructions for writing it kill the creative principle of the author. However, this

is also a "research" position: the paradox in science has a right to exist. However, accurate knowledge of the perspective and composition, however, has not yet killed art, so why is essayism worse?
