The article presents two folklore texts in Kildin Saami. These texts were recorded in 1960 and 1975, respectively, and have since been stored in EMSUKA. They were transcribed and translated during fieldwork in 2022. The texts represent two widespread genres of oral tradition: a trickster tale and a personal narrative about a supernatural encounter (also called a memorate). The Saami texts are supplemented with a Cyrillic transcription and a Russian translation so as to make the publication available to the community of native speakers.

Настоящая статья представляет собой публикацию двух фольклорных текстов на кильдинском саамском. Эти тексты были записаны в 1960 и в 1975 годах и хранились в EMSUKA. Их транскрипция и перевод были выполнены в ходе экспедиции 2022 года. Тексты являются образцами двух широко распространенных фольклорных жанров: новеллистическая сказка и быличка. Тексты снабжены транскрипцией в кириллической орфографии и переводом на русский язык, что должно сделать данные тексты более доступными для сообщества носителей кильдинского саамского.

1. Introduction
About forty years have passed since texts in the Kildin Saami language last appeared in a scholarly publication. That was a sample of narratives in the Shongui dialect collected by Erkki It-konen in 1943 and then edited by Juhani Lehtiranta [1985]. There are not many published transcriptions of texts in Kildin Saami, so they can all be mentioned here: [Genetz 1891; Itkonen, Euro-paeus 1931; Kert 1961; Szabo 1967; 1968; Bjarnson 1976]. Standards of editing language material have changed since the most recent publication. All the abovementioned works only contain transcriptions with translations into Finnish, Russian, German, or English that are provided separately, i.e. the Saami sentences are not aligned with their translation. Moreover, some transcriptions were made based on an outdated view of phonology or suffered from numerous inaccuracies. Since then, providing word-by-word grammatical glosses has become a standard part of best practices, and the lack thereof makes the texts available to none but specialists in the Saami languages.
Although only a few samples of Kildin Saami texts have been published so far, a significant effort has been made to document the oral tradition. The audio recordings made during numerous expeditions are now stored in the Archive of the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and in the Archive of Estonian Dialects and Finno-Ugric Languages at the Institute of the Estonian Language (EMSUKA). EMSUKA has made a large body of digitized recordings in Kildin Saami publicly available on the Internet.
In the scope of the present article, we publish two texts from EMSUKA (tapes SUH0939 and SUH0943) that were recorded in the second half of the 20th century. The texts represent two genres of oral tradition: a trickster tale and a personal narrative about a supernatural encounter, also known as a 'memorate' in folklore studies. The texts were transcribed with the assistance of native speakers during fieldwork in Lujaav'v'r' (Rus. Lovo-zero, Lovozersky district, Murmansk oblast, Russia) in the summer of 2022. Taking the opportunity, we thank Antonina Mi-khailovna Antonova, Domna Maksimovna Khomyuk, Olga Gav-
rilovna Paul, Nina Semenovna Sharshina, Ulyana Mikhailovna Yulina for their selfless and high-quality work. The transcriptions were then revised using dictionary sources, namely [It-konen 1958; Kuruch et al. 1985; Antonova 2014]. After that, glosses were added following the Leipzig glossing rules. To make the texts available to the general audience, first of all, to Kildin Saami speakers, we also publish them in the Cyrillic alphabet with a Russian translation separately from the glossed text. We accept the version of the orthography proposed in [Kuruch et al. 1985; 1995] with one additional feature of the orthography used in [Antonova 2014], namely the distinction between oa /d/ and oa| dd/. The newest and richest electronic dictionary of Kildin Saa-mi [Antonova, Scheller 2021] was used when preparing the texts as well, although the orthography accepted in the present publication is different from the one used in that source.
The transcription used here is a hybrid of the Uralic Phonetic Alphabet and the International Phonetic Alphabet. The sign ' following a letter is used to indicate palatalization, double letters denote long phonemes, h before a letter denotes preaspira-tion, and o is used to denote voiceless sonorants. The sign xxx is used for inaudible and unclear fragments. Code-switching to Russian and code insertion is marked with RUS in the transcription and with italics in the Cyrillic orthography. Only occasional code insertions and short instances of code-switching are marked in this way, whereas more deeply assimilated loans remain unmarked. Russian fragments are given using traditional scientific transliteration. The sign .. is used to indicate false starts.
2. Nester, the tailor
The text is a trickster tale about a tailor called Nester. Nester decides to deceive a merchant by selling the material received from him instead of sewing coats and suits, since this is an easier way of earning money to provide food for his sons. However, the deception is revealed and Nester is taken to court. On the road to court, Nester deceitfully borrows several pie-
ces of clothing from the merchant. He also persuades a street sweeper to say in court that the horse the merchant came with belongs to Nester. The judge succumbs to Nester's pranks, as a result of which Nester is acquitted and receives the horse and other property belonging to the merchant.
The text was recorded in Lujaav'v'r' on September 3, 1975 by Vaino Klaus. The speaker is Marya Pavlova, born in Harlovka in 1914. She moved to Lujaav'v'r' after getting married. The audio is available on the EMSUKA website (https://emsuka.eki.ee/), recording number SUH0939 (17:50-22:53).

3 Grandmother Oan'es' meets a demon
The text is a memorate about an encounter that the speaker's grandmother Oan'es' had with a demon, called here coogg-kab'b'er' 'sharp-hat'. The demon takes the form of her brother and tries to lure Oan'es' to his tent. The reindeer accompanying her resists as it can see that it is not Oan'es''s brother but the demon. Oan'es' eventually recognizes the demon and runs away from him. However, the next year she breaks her leg as a result of another intervention of the demon and dies seven years later. Some details of the story remain not quite clear due to the quality of the recording and the speaker's pronunciation features.
The text was recorded by Karl Kont on August 25, 1960 in Lujaav'v'r'. The speaker is Anna Vasilyevna Zheleznyakova, born in Lujaav'v'r' in 1888. The audio is available on the EMSU-KA website (http://emsuka.eki.ee/), recording number SUH0943 (10:17-14:05).
