communicative competence should become the main goal of linguistic education [1; 271].

The basic principles of constructing a course of study based on the communicative method are: speech orientation teaching foreign languages through communication; situational - communicative learning is carried out on the basis of situations, educational material is also selected on the basis of situations; functionality -students' awareness of the functional purpose of all aspects of the language; personal orientation, which takes into account the individual characteristics of students; modeling - selecting a minimum of educational material and presenting it in a model form. [2;75]

The communicative method is the basis for the creation of educational and methodological aids in foreign languages, created at the Department of Foreign Languages. Optimization of the educational process is one of the main tasks of modern higher education. The fulfillment of this task at the Department of Foreign Languages is carried out through the application and improvement of active learning methods, including the communicative method, the project method, a programmed method using a computer for test programs, role-playing game, group method, problem-based method, the use of supporting classes in a foreign language and the use of interdisciplinary connections in the classroom, as a result of which the entire course of teaching foreign languages is focused on the ultimate goal of language proficiency - using it for practical purposes for the needs of one's specialty.

Computer technologies are used at the department in two directions: the use of the Internet as a source of information for the educational process in foreign languages and the organization of midterm and final control. The Internet is widely used as a source of additional materials for teachers when preparing for classes and writing teaching aids. The materials can be printed and used during a traditional lesson. The Internet user gains access to relevant and authentic information that is difficult to select from other sources. This increases the interest of students and increases their motivation to learn the language. In addition, you can use additional exercises from various sites that serve to repeat the material of the corresponding lesson.

Role-playing games have been introduced into the educational process to simulate real situations of communication in a foreign language. Role-playing games are used to master new material, consolidate and develop creative skills, and develop speech skills. Various types of role-playing games are used: controlled, moderately controlled, free, episodic, and long-term. The main models for role-playing games are the "customer and shop assistant" and "waitress and customer" situations. The main

functions of a role-playing game: educational (role-playing determines the choice of language means for communication), educational (the ability to defend one's point of view, instilling love for the medical profession), orienting (planning one's own speech behavior), motivational (the need to communicate in a foreign language).

Group learning has been known for centuries: "one must teach the other." The group teaching method is one of the effective ways to organize the educational process in a foreign language. The group method is built from the following elements:

The teacher structures the lesson in such a way that each student understands that he cannot achieve success until the whole group finishes the work;

The teacher structures the individual responsibility of students so that each student is assessed on individual testing, as well as on how he teaches his friend what he can do himself.

Stimulating students with the successes of their group mates. The group method cannot be used constantly, the material must be suitable for group work, it must be sufficiently complex, it must be divided into independent units. This can be working with text, developing lexical and grammatical skills, modeling dialogic situations.

The problem-based method is used at the department, mainly in optional and elective classes. Problem-based learning refers to the organization of training sessions, which involves the formulation of a problem by the teacher and the active independent work of students to solve it. In fact, this looks like the teacher formulating a problem (for example, the problem of youth drug addiction), reading texts on the proposed problem, students' answers to the texts read, expressing one's own opinion, asking one's own questions, making a reasoned statement on the topic of discussion, discussing the problem in a group, preparing a scientific report.

However, it is necessary to offer all facilities for learning. The facilities by means of which students feel their progress, intellectual consistency and make the process of learning more productive. Independent information search is a constituent part of the creative process which livens up the intelligence activity of individuals. The search at the moment of the concept appearance can stimulate the concept development and prevent from its disappearance. Surfing the Internet students feel themselves as parts of the "teaching" family, where people speak different languages. This fact impels students to learn more than one foreign language.

The basic objective of this process is not knowledge transmission or ability and skill formation but interest encouragement, motivation for language learning, help in adoption and creative research. Nowadays, relations with students are built on

principles of cooperation and joint search and creativity. In these conditions it is inevitable to reconsider and review present forms, principles and methods of teaching: there are tendencies in independent work and team work increase, deviation from traditional forms of lessons, illustration methods use in teaching, increasing the volume of practical and creative work with searching and research features. Internet technologies are called to favor the development of the individual educational paths: to adapt the educational material to individual features of students, their level of knowledge and abilities.
