Examining the Cossidae of Transcaucasia we have studied specimens of this family deposited in the collection of the Institute of Zoology of Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (Baku). The collection includes 10 species of 9 genera and 2 subfamilies collected in the middle of the 20th century on the territory of three countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia. Several species are indicated for the fauna of Azerbaijan for the first time.

Key words: Cossidae, carpenter-moths, Azarbaijan.

Cossidae (Lepidoptera) is a small family including about 1100-1200 species (Van Nieukerken et al., 2011). Some of them are pasts of agriculture and forestry. The Cossidae fauna of the Caucasus and Transcaucasia is rather poorly studied. There are detailed revisions on the Russian portion of the Caucasus (Yakovlev et al., 2015) and Georgia (Didmanidze & Yakovlev, 2007). The Cossidae fauna of Azerbaijan has not been specifically studied. In the Catalogue of the Family Cossidae of the Old World (Yakovlev, 2011) according to factual material, 14 species are listed for the fauna of Azerbaijan, 7 species are summarized for Transcaucasia.

Examining the Cossidae of Transcaucasia we have studied specimens of this family deposited in the collection of the Institute of Zoology of Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (Baku). The collection includes 10 species of 9 genera and 2 subfamilies collected in the middle of the 20th century on the territory of three countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia. The specimens are mounted on pins, some of them are not straightened. The list of them is given below. Several species are indicated for the fauna of Azerbaijan for the first time, according to factual material (marked with *).
