INTRODUCTION

Benefits of Integrating Global Issues Cultural Awareness: By discussing global issues, students gain insights into different cultures, traditions, and perspectives. This promotes cultural awareness and helps students develop empathy and respect for diversity.

Global issues often require critical analysis and problem-solving skills. Engaging students in discussions about these topics encourages them to think critically, evaluate information, and form well-supported opinions. Discussing complex global issues provides opportunities for students to expand their vocabulary, practice expressing opinions and arguments, and improve their overall language proficiency. Connecting language learning to real-world issues makes learning more meaningful and relevant to students' lives. It also prepares them to navigate global challenges in the future.

Methodology

Select global issues that are relevant to students' lives and align with curriculum goals. Topics like climate change, human rights, globalization, and cultural diversity can spark engaging discussions. Incorporate authentic materials such as news articles, videos, and interviews related to global issues. This exposes students to real-world language use and fosters discussion on current events. Engage students in project-based learning activities where they research, analyze, and present findings on a global issue. This promotes collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.

Debate and Discussion: Organize debates or structured discussions on global issues, encouraging students to present arguments, listen to opposing views, and engage in respectful dialogue. tives and promotes cross-cultural understanding. Incorporate reflective activities where students analyze their own cultural biases, perspectives, and reactions to global issues. This self-awareness enhances empathy and intercultural competence. Books like "Global education in the elementary classroom" by Barton and Lee provide practical strategies and resources specifically geared towards integrating global issues into classroom activities across different age groups [7]. An evidence-based approach" edited by Jacobsen explores innovative teaching methods that can be adapted to incorporate global issues effectively, fostering creativity and engagement among students [8].

Kumaravadivelu's work on cultural globalization and language education offers theoretical insights into how language teaching can address global issues and promote intercultural understanding in the classroom [9].

Linse's book on practical English language teaching for young learners includes creative activities and lesson ideas that can be modified to introduce global issues in an age-appropriate and engaging manner [10].

Integrating Climate Change in the Classroom

For example, integrating the topic of climate change in the English language classroom can be highly effective. Students can read articles or watch videos about climate-related issues, discuss the impact on different communities globally, write essays or poems expressing their concerns, participate in debates on environmental policies, and collaborate on eco-friendly projects.

CONCLUSION

Integrating global issues in the creative English language classroom offers numerous benefits for students' holistic development. It enhances language skills, fosters critical thinking and cultural awareness, and prepares students to navigate a complex and interconnected world. By implementing strategies such as project-based learning, debates, and creative expression, educators can create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that empower students to become informed global citizens.

Through these efforts, the English language classroom becomes a space not only for language acquisition but also for exploring and understanding the diverse and interconnected issues that shape our world today.
