Abstract: Dance and movement therapy as a means of social rehabilitation for people with disabilities. A chance to feel one's body, its connection with emotions. Disposing of inner tension and physical discomfort. Becoming open to people. Self-confidence and strength.

Keywords: dance, the art of choreography, therapy, special children.

Dance is a great tool in the development and upbringing of children, enriches their spiritual world and forms an atmosphere of positive emotions. The art of dance, like no other art, has the potential to fully improve the aesthetics of the child, for his harmonious spiritual and physical development.

Dance classes teach you to understand, realize and create beauty. Dance art develops imagination, imaginative thinking, harmonious plastic development and a sense of rhythm.

In addition to all of the above, dance classes are designed to develop strength, dexterity, coordination of movements, temper will and endurance. And no less important is the development of an expressive physique, getting rid of shyness, tightness and complexes.

In comparison with fine arts, singing and music, which have a permanent place in the grid of the school schedule, dance could also become one of the compulsory subjects of a student's education.

Psychologists have long been scientifically proven that children who are engaged in dancing achieve significant academic success and are ahead of their peers in the overall development. Through the development and study of each new movement, the most powerful neural networks develop in the child. And when more movements are mastered, each of them will give a step in the development of the senses (vision, hearing, touch), which gives advantages in perceiving the surrounding information. According to Professor T. Chernihiv, the need to control your body in rhythm, music and in space, stimulates the most complex processes of the human brain, which allows you to compare the brain of a dancer with the brain of a nuclear physicist.

Dance helps to form a logical representation, orientation skills in space, improves motor skills, develops active mental actions in the process of physical exercises.

In dance, shy and withdrawn children become sociable, open and liberated.

The dance-movement method of working with children with disabilities is precisely the therapy that will help them realize themselves: to feel their body and its connection with emotions, to get rid of stiffness, internal tension, limited movements, bodily discomfort. Strengthen self-confidence and self-confidence. Be open in communication with other people.

The roots of dance and movement therapy originate from the most ancient civilizations. For thousands of years, ritual dances have existed in different cultures to treat the sick, mourn the dead, celebrate victories and weddings.

Dance and movement therapy as a method first took shape in the middle of the last century in the USA. The post-war period required new approaches to the treatment of post-traumatic syndromes and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The dance was used without teaching any styles or specific movements, but only to promote the disclosure of individuality. This therapy contributed mainly to finding and feeling your own "I".

The first lady in this type of therapy was considered to be Marion Chase, who worked at the St. Mary's Clinic. Elizabeth is in Washington, DC. She developed dance into a therapeutic modality, working with mental and nonverbal patients. She achieved great success - patients who were considered hopeless became capable of group relationships and expressing their own feelings. Thanks to Marion, dance-movement therapy became an alternative to tranquilizers discovered in the fifties.

Since then, the use of dance-movement therapy has spread to the spiritual recovery of children with special needs. Thus, in Uzbekistan in the 90s, an Integrated Theater of the "FACE" Movement was created under the leadership of Lilia Sevastyanova. The theater works with young people and children with special needs. According to personal observations of Lilia's classes, there is an atmosphere of warmth and trust in the theater, the absence of psychological barriers between special children and their peers, the courage of the creative process.

Initially, the theater was conceived as a theater of modern dance. Participating in many international festivals, he became known far beyond the borders of Uzbekistan. Today it exists, uniting almost 40 people, half of whom are people with disabilities. The theater helps people in wheelchairs, the deaf and blind, people with oligophrenia, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.

The prospects for the use of dance-movement therapy in the development of special children are indisputable. Dance gives children a sense of flight and joy,

allows them to express their feelings and emotions, develops plasticity and self-knowledge, and also teaches them to interact with the world around them.
