In the modern world, where the borders of different countries become easier to overcome, especially for specialists in the field of medicine, the significance of the English language is noticeably increasing.
Globalization and speeding up the exchange of information requires knowledge of the language of international communication and, in particular, its peculiarities and the use of terminology in medical and allied professions.
Consequently, the development of English becomes necessary to acquire reading skills and a good understanding of medical literature in English in order to reach a level for communication with colleagues in the US, UK, Australia, Israel and other countries known for their significant achievements in the development of medicine.
Why should a doctor know English?
Firstly, it may seem that the knowledge of a Russian doctor is not a factor in professional growth.
In fact, if your goal is continuous improvement of skills and a desire to work in a prestigious clinic, and even more, cooperation with your foreign colleagues, you should know English. Let's see how knowledge of the English language helps the doctor.
The doctor who speaks English is more knowledgeable about current trends in the field of medicine.
Thanks to the knowledge of the English language, you are free to read foreign medical journals, most modern books on medicine, to get acquainted with publications in English of medical sites. And, of course, from the point of view of the volume and relevance of such information greatly benefits compared with the information available in Russian or Kazakh languages.

But why this need for English? The fact that scientific publications, in the first place, are available to a wide range of readers only in English, and this may take a long time before they are translated into Russian or Kazakh. If you are just going to study at the doctor, you can enroll in a foreign university, and knowledge of the English language is one of the main conditions for the implementation of your plans.
You don't necessarily need a large amount of money to study at a foreign university well.
There are various training programs for future students, so you can study abroad without spending too much money, but without knowledge of foreign languages, this is impossible. First of all, we are talking about the Russian language.
If you are already a practitioner and would like to grow professionally, you can take an internship in a foreign clinic, advanced training courses abroad to participate in international research projects in the field of medicine. But for this you will also need knowledge of the English language.
Knowledge of English will allow you to take part in medical conferences abroad. Prestigious clinics are interested in ensuring that their doctors take part in various events abroad, such as conferences on various medical issues. Therefore, if you work in a clinic or in a scientific research institute, you have the opportunity to go on a business trip abroad, but for this you need a good knowledge of English, because such events are usually conducted in English.
Knowledge of English will allow you to work in a team with foreign experts. Many domestic clinics cooperate with foreign medical institutions, invite foreign experts to work or consult with them in difficult cases in order to jointly diagnose or determine methods of treating patients. In addition, doctors fluent in English are invited to participate in international clinical trials.
Knowledge of English allows the doctor to receive foreign patients in private clinics. Perhaps if you work in a small clinic in a small town, you only seek medical help from your fellow countrymen. But, for example, in a private clinic in the capital, which interacts with insurance companies, you can get foreign patients. If you plan to work or internship abroad, then you can not do without the English language.
Knowing English is always prestigious. Regardless of your profession, be it a doctor or another specialist, if you speak foreign languages, in any company that cooperates with foreign partners or not, you will be considered a more valuable employee. Knowledge of English speaks about your education, emphasizes that you are a modern, open, aimed at self-improvement of people.
As you can see, doctors have many reasons to learn English. The level of English should be quite high. The doctor is obliged to own medical terminology, be able to read and fully understand even the most complex text on medical topics.
And just as it is easy to take English at the hearing, also communicate with colleagues from other countries. The doctor must speak English clearly, so that the other person can understand his every word, including difficult to pronounce medical terms. Of course, all doctors know Latin, it helps to avoid confusion in medical terms, but a living language is still needed for dialogue. After analyzing all the above points, it can be concluded that English is very important in medicine. It is a language that connects the knowledge and achievements of different countries, allows you to transfer and learn lessons from experience, skills and knowledge. Nowadays, while it is not a secret, every doctor should know medical English.
