This paper examines the role of information technology in the professional activity of a translator. Automated translation systems, electronic dictionaries, text corpora and other tools available to translators greatly facilitate and speed up their work. The analysis of the main technologies and tools used by translators is carried out, their impact on the quality and speed of translation is investigated.

THE ROLE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIRES IN THE PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY OF INTERPRETER

Abstract: This paper examines the role of information technology in the professional activity of a translator. Automated translation systems, electronic dictionaries, text corpora and other tools available to translators greatly facilitate and speed up their work. The analysis of the main technologies and tools used by translators is carried out, their impact on the quality and speed of translation is investigated.

The image of a translator hunched over a desk, meticulously crafting sentences in a foreign tongue, is slowly becoming a relic of the past. Information technology (IT) has revolutionized the professional landscape for translators, transforming their workflow, expanding their capabilities, and shaping the very nature of the translation process. This digital revolution presents both opportunities and challenges, demanding a translator's ability to adapt and embrace new tools.

One of the most significant impacts of IT lies in the realm of translation memory (TM) software. These sophisticated programs store previously translated segments of text, allowing translators to leverage existing work for new projects. Imagine translating a legal document with recurring legal jargon - a TM can

Проведен анализ основных технологий и инструментов, используемых переводчиками, исследовано их влияние на качество и скорость перевода.
