English, the most widely used language internationally in many countries around the world, is the language of education, business, medicine, banking, tourism, etc. English is also the language of computing, so it is an international language. The number of users of this language is increasing every day. However, people face many problems in the process of learning and mastering this language. This article examines the causes of difficulties in learning English as a foreign language, identifies the most effective strategies that can be useful for students in order to become fluent in English. Indeed, at present, the study of this language is really important, because English is an international language that is used in many industries. Research shows that student attitudes have a big impact on language learning, because students' positive attitude directly affects the process of assimilation of new information.

This article provides answers to many questions about language learning, such as: Why do students face difficulties in learning a foreign language? What are the possible difficulties in learning a foreign language? How to overcome the difficulties associated with learning English? First you need to determine the main motives for learning English. Among them are such reasons as:

- Personal benefit: Knowing English is very useful for achieving personal goals, such as successfully communicating with people abroad, as well as moving up the career ladder.

-Cognitive development This means that those people who have the ability to speak a foreign language are more creative and think creatively, and their minds are more active, they solve problems more efficiently and quickly.

- Social benefits People who speak English are involved in the global community. Apart from these motives, it is worth noting that knowledge of a second language is a means that encourages students to work hard and believe in

their abilities in the performance of their daily duties. Difficulties in learning English: Learning a foreign language is a long and difficult process, as learners must cover all aspects of a new language, such as the grammatical structure and culture of the target language. Many people around the world begin to learn English, and at the same time face linguistic and cultural difficulties. All difficulties have an impact on language learning, creating obstacles for students. Thus, this article reveals the main difficulties that students face when they start learning English. The main difficulties in learning a foreign language: Using the structure of the source language when translating into the target language

The source language is the native language of the speaker, and the target language is the foreign language. All languages have their own grammatical and lexical structures. Thus, learners of English should be familiar with its structures. This is due to the fact that the structure of the language has a great influence on learning. If students use the wrong grammatical structure, this leads to ambiguity and misunderstanding when communicating. But some students do not pay enough attention to this issue, so the training does not give results. For example, the structure of English is completely different from that of Turkish or Arabic.

- Cultural Differences Culture is a sense of belonging and belonging to a particular community with history, language, heritage. Almost every society has its own culture that distinguishes it from other societies. The role of culture in learning a new language cannot be ignored because sometimes students know everything about vocabulary and other aspects of a foreign language; however, they cannot correctly understand what some expressions mean, so cultural information is very important. So, for example, it will be difficult to explain to a foreigner the meaning of the expression "Do not stand above the soul", because it would seem, how can one stand above the soul? In addition, there are many words in Russian that cannot be equivalent in English, for example, "maybe", "samovar". These words and expressions can only be understood by a person who is familiar with Russian culture. It's the same with the English language, because, for example, "Earworm" is not an earworm, but an annoying song or melody. Thus, cultural differences are another problem that students face when learning a language.

-Accent. Another difficulty English learners may encounter is accent. Accent is the way words are pronounced. The English language has different accents such as American, British, Australian, Canadian, etc. Accent variations can cause problems for English learners. Slang and spoken language.

-Slang is those expressions that are used in an informal language. The English language is made up of many slang and colloquial expressions; this is another difficulty English learners face because it is often difficult for learners to capture all the jargon and colloquial expressions.

-Personal factors: One of the main factors strongly influencing the result of language learning is personal. Some English learners react negatively to the

language early in the process, which can lead to lack of motivation, self-doubt, stress, anxiety, and fear of making mistakes in communication. These feelings cause negative attitudes and students fail to learn the language properly. When learning a language, students should avoid negative attitudes as they create a distorted view of that language.

-Environment. The atmosphere of the learning space in which students learn the language is very important. During language learning, it is necessary to take into account the educational atmosphere and the freedom of interactions in learning to a large extent.

-Grammar and vocabulary. Incorrect use of grammar and vocabulary leads to misunderstandings between interlocutors. The English language has a complex system of grammatical rules. The complexity of the grammar makes it difficult for students to use the correct grammatical tenses. As you know, an incorrectly grammatically constructed sentence delivers the wrong message to the addressee. Grammar changes the meaning of a message and therefore learners need to learn grammar rules, because English grammar can sometimes seem difficult even for native speakers. English learners sometimes have difficulty using English grammar; they know the rules, but they cannot apply them correctly. At the same time, in English, words have many meanings and meanings change depending on the context, which makes the learning process even more difficult.

-Pronunciation. Another problem that students may face is the correct pronunciation of words in the target language. Although it is difficult for foreign language learners to pronounce sounds the way native speakers do, they are still required to pronounce them correctly. In addition, the pronunciation is closely related to the student's native language, because some sounds may not exist in the student's native language, which creates difficulties. Ways to Improve Your Language Skills The English language consists of four main areas: reading, listening, speaking and writing. Studying each of them takes time and effort. The following sections will detail how students can improve each of these skills.

-Listening. The ability to perceive information by ear is very important when learning a foreign language. Methods for improving English listening comprehension: Listen to English songs. Listen to short stories in English. Listen to the news in English on radio and TV (with native English speakers as presenters). Listening skills are a core skill in language learning because without this skill, students will never be able to communicate effectively.

Ability to write. Writing is an important skill in a language that affects the outcome of language learning; avoid repetition and long sentences; It is helpful for students to choose and use understandable words and expressions.

The following methods help students improve their writing skills: Follow spelling rules. Learn abbreviations in English. Punctuation marks are also important in English because they change the meaning. To improve your writing skills, write essays and short stories well. Learning English is a complex process

that involves many factors. In conclusion, it must be said that the success of learning English as a foreign language depends on the methods, the teacher, student performance and the environment. The latter plays an important role because it obliges the teacher to provide a comfortable environment in the classroom. In addition, English learners should have a good plan of action and use various methods to overcome the difficulties of language learning, such as practice, establishing contacts with native English speakers, having a good attitude towards the language, etc.
