Abstract: this article states about the importance of country research material in the development speech habits. The author confirms that students' aspiration to know about history, culture, art, customs, lifestyle of the people, belief and others of the country of the learned language can be satisfied by using country specific materials at lessons. Here is also spoken about enriching educational and methodic complexes with country research information.
Keywords: speech habits, motive, country study, social and economic position, traditions, cognitive, social-cultural competence.
As it is known, efficiency of independent speech habits of students is defined by the presence of interests and motives to learning foreign languages. It is also known that students display a keen interest in the life in foreign countries, particularly, in the countries of the learned language. Considerable reserves of increasing efficiency of educational and speech activities at lessons of a foreign language are also connected with this. Methodic aspect of teaching foreign languages, in which the methods of making students acquainted with a new culture are investigated, is called country study. Country study presents information about social and economic position of the country and people whose language has become a subject of learning, and about customs, traditions, cultural values which are specific to this nation. Using country specific information at language lessons has applied character. It is included in the system of lessons in the process of acquaintance of students with the content and forms of speech communication of native speaker of the learned language. Such information provides not only with cognitive but also communicative needs of students favouring the formation of communicative and social-cultural competence [1, 45].Our practice shows that students treat the history, culture, art, customs, traditions, lifestyle of the people, view of life, belief, ways of spending leisure time, hobbies of their peers, as well as, everything which is connected with the country of the learned language with unchangeable interest and curiosity. According to the results of the questionnaire conducted among the first course students of Bukhara engineering-technological institute 83% of the students would like to know more about the cultural life of England, 65% of them were interested in the life and hobbies of English peers, 46% - traditions and way of life, and 38% - the history of England. When the teacher told the students about the hobbies and mode of life of English people they tried to remember the information. The students discussed the information with enthusiasm, compared the traditions and mode of life of English people with ours. On the whole, conducted questionnaire and talks with the students convinced us of their high interest in learning a foreign language and make a closer acquaintance of culture, art, customs, traditions, lifestyle of the people, view of life, belief of England and America.
Besides that the investigation showed that the general level of students' being informed about the country of the learned language was rather low and a situation of communication based on the country research foundation was an effective stimulus to the speech interaction.
At the lessons of the English language conducted by applying the interactive method "Role playing" the students, playing the part of journalists, tried to the actor reincarnation imitating to be native speakers of English (gestures, facial expression, manner of behaving
and talking). The students, acting American journalists, continued to remain "in the person of journalists" during the next several lessons. The questions, with which students addressed to each other and the teacher, are evidence of rising interest in the facts of life of Americans. The students shared information actively and with a great interest acquiring speech habits and knowledge. The situation, arising at the lesson, demanded speech independence and initiative from the students. Thus, the process of mastering a foreign language is becoming a creative process of discovering for oneself the country of the learned language and people speaking in this language. The given example shows that successful results depend on teacher's mastering country specific information and using it skillfully at lessons. His (her) erudition and horizons are a stimulus to increase the students' interest in the subject. That's why it is important to include materials enriched with country research information in educational and methodic complexes. These materials may be in the form of multimedia slides, photographs, illustrations to texts, cards, disks with records of texts containing country specific material. Country specific information existing in different parts of educational and methodic complexes must contain information allowing a lesson of a foreign language to be interesting: the history of the country, historical people, information about geography, nature, ecology, art and culture of Modern England and America.
Organization of teaching a foreign language in close ties with national culture of the people who speak in this language, country specific colour of teaching in the whole, educational materials, particularly, will favour the strengthening of communicative and cognitive motivation of students, will allow diversify methods and form of work, appeal to intellect and emotional sphere of students, implement the main general didactic demand: combination of education with up-bringing more effectively.
