Today, in the context of the continuous improvement of science and technology, as well as the development of international trade and economic cooperation, knowledge of foreign languages is not only part of the culture of the nation, but is also one of the determining factors for the success and career of students and future specialists. Proficiency in the language at the proper level is achieved by obtaining fundamental knowledge and basics in educational institutions of various educational levels.

There are a huge number of traditional methods of teaching foreign languages that give positive results, but modern society dictates the need to search for newer approaches using the achievements of technological progress.

All responsibility for organizing the educational process and achieving the set goals lies with the teacher, who must not only know the various methods and techniques of teaching a foreign language, but also be able to competently, focusing on the abilities and knowledge of students, select the optimal teaching system to achieve a positive result. A very important component of the educational process is the creativity of the teacher, because the ability to teach is a kind of art, therefore, the teaching methodology should include the creativity of the teacher [2].

The teaching methodology is a certain set of tools of the teacher's activity, which are used by him\her in the process of performing the leading function - teaching. The implementation of the teaching methodology occurs through the use of techniques and approaches, techniques for organizing the educational process. The sad thing is that

today most foreign language teachers are guided by standard and outdated methods that have lost their effectiveness [10].

Pedagogical technology is a set of techniques, an area of pedagogical knowledge that reflects the characteristics of the deep processes of pedagogical activity, the features of their interaction, the management of which ensures the necessary efficiency of the educational process [7].

The use of modern pedagogical technologies in the process of teaching foreign languages allows you to reproduce learning situations, helps to complement traditional teaching methods, contributes to the formation of fundamental skills of foreign language communication from the realization of the possibility of expressing thoughts in another language to the independent solution of communication problems, increases the desire, interest of students in learning, makes them - take a fresh look at the subjects being studied, thus revealing their creative and intellectual capabilities, talents [1].

Nowadays, the current education system is being reformed: informatization of the educational process, cooperation with educational institutions of other countries, international conferences, training and exchange internship programs, the possibility of obtaining higher education abroad.

Technology in terms of teaching foreign languages must change in accordance with the needs of a developing society. Not only new teaching methods should be introduced, but also new requirements for teachers.

At the present stage, the key goal of teaching a foreign language in higher education is to instill communicativeness in students, which will help them to communicate with representatives of other cultures and nations in the future. Therefore, the development of a culturological approach in teaching is playing an increasingly important role as the basis of the concept of "dialogue of cultures", aimed at the formation of students' polymer literacy [9].

To achieve all the goals set, it is very important to organize the learning process competently. At the present stage, the greatest efficiency in the study of foreign languages is achieved through the use of the following methods: multimedia presentation, project method, interactive whiteboards, multimedia programs, distance learning, etc.

The most popular today in teaching foreign languages is the use of computer technology. The use of computers makes the learning process more fun, creative and much easier to control.

Multimedia programs bring some variety to the educational process, since videos, presentations, tests act as educational material.

Multimedia programs give the student motivation in learning the language, and computer programs contribute to the development of intelligence, logic, and attention [5].

Currently, the concept of "SMART" is the main purpose of the development of educational systems. The main source of knowledge is electronic, educational Internet content, technological operations are to provide feedback from teachers and students, the exchange of knowledge between them.

Smart education is a concept that involves a comprehensive modernization of all educational processes, as well as the methods and technologies used in these processes [8].

SMART education is capable of providing a high level of learning that meets the challenges and opportunities of today's world, will allow young people to adapt in a rapidly changing, unstable environment, and will ensure the transition from book content to active content using a single common repository of educational materials with an analytical search system. The quality of educational materials in the repository should be constantly monitored through the introduction of various materials and work in conjunction with educational process management systems.

Considering the current, innovative technologies, one should dwell in more detail on the topic of using Internet resources in teaching a foreign language. The possibilities for using online resources are enormous.

With the help of web resources, you can perform the following tasks:

- include the materials of the network in the content of the lesson;

- to carry out an independent search for information by students as part of the work on the project [3];

- to organize and develop reading skills using materials from the network of any degree of complexity;

- improve listening skills based on audio texts from a network of online resources;

- replenish vocabulary with vocabulary, abbreviations of a modern foreign language [5];

- study the culture of a particular language [4].

Nowadays, there are a large number of sites dedicated to the independent study of foreign languages. On such sites, you can find ready-made lessons from foreign language teachers, exercises, audio recordings, grammatical explanations that are incomprehensible to the student.

The method of projects is used, as a rule, in the course of consolidating the acquired knowledge. When using this method, students themselves choose information, ways of presenting the material, while showing creative skills [3].

Thus, the use of a variety of methods has various advantages that contribute to the consolidation of new knowledge, develop creativity, give an incentive to learn the language, and the use of technology in the learning process allows you to form professional skills and abilities.
