CHARACTERISTICS OF POSTEXTREMAL SYNDROMES

E.K. Akperov, V.N. Tsygan Military Medical Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia The effects of ecological and occupational stress (EOS) on the brain neurodynamics of Soviet Union and Afghan servicemen have been studied. The neurophysiologic characteristics of traumatic stress and consequences of combat trauma were investigated in the wounded in the acute phase and 0.5—3.0 years after leaving the battlefield. The combination effect of combat situation, hot climate, highlands and desert conditions formed the EOS which didn’t cause adaptation process in servicemen. Their state was characterized by changes in bioelectric indices of brain in interhemispheric relations both in whole and in isolated rhythm components in EEG in form of activation of the stress limiting systems. The pathopsychological components remained significant within 3 years after leaving the combat conditions. The formation of general adaptation syndrome was prevented in explosion trauma by the influence of EOS.
