Abstract: it is not surprise nowadays that through the Internet a lot of things are possible. On the Internet we make friends, communicate with the world and learn new information. In this article we look more closely to the historical background of social media and introduces with a new phenomenon. Keywords: blog, blogger, social media, Internet.

In this fast-paced time popularity of the Internet is grown much more than it was before. These days it is becoming an integral part of our lives. Everything available on the Internet from entertainment to education. Due to the globalization, social networking is growing significantly too. Today's modern society required us to communicate through online chats or messengers, to observe the news of friends on the social media and to compete with ourselves. These conventions make the blog quite simple to use, and they also invite a sense of self and of self in relation to others that has always been present on the Internet but is quite visible, very standardized, global, and relatively well mainstreamed when compared to the Internet in 1993. [1] All of these are playing an essential role in building of person's opinions and characters.

The topic of the article is about blogosphere. How many times you have been hearing "blog" or "blogger"?

The definition of blog is an online diary or website where the user shares post about their routine, personal information, thought and opinion on a regular basic. As Laura J. Gurak and Smiljana Antonijevic noted in their article "The psychology of blogging: You, me, and everyone in between" that blogging is another real reason to phenomena why "you control the information age".

According to the authors, short for weblogs, blogs are both a technology and a genre [1].

The term "web log" was first used during the late 90s, which later became "weblog", then "we blog", and finally just "blog" [5] Going back to its historical background blogs started to be well-known after first one was created. It was in 1994 when a college student Justin Hall of Swarthmore College opened "Links.net". This was his personal web-based dairy, and this built a new way of blogging. Then as time passed in 2004 New York Times Magazine introduced Justin Hall as a "the founding father of personal blogging".

The early 2000s were a period of growth for blogs. In 1999, according to a list compiled by Jesse James Garrett, there were 23 blogs on the internet. By the middle of 2006, there were 50 million blogs according to Technorati 's State of the Blogosphere report. To say that blogs experienced exponential growth is a bit of an understatement [4].

A person who has blog on social media called blogger. A blog can be created on different platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr. According to the data from a website Statista.com (2020) most popular social networks worldwide as of January 2020, ranked by number of active users are Facebook and YouTube with 2 449 and 2 000 million, respectively. Following this, on the third place is the messenger WhatsApp with 1600 while Instagram has 1000 million and less than it Tik Tok with 800 million of users.

Due to the growing number of such web pages, several tools started to appear, which made it easier for users to create online journals and blogs. These tools helped popularize blogging and made the technology accessible to non-technical users [6]. Today social networking is developing every day and the amount of time a person is spending there increases too. So, this means developers create new tools for its reason. For example, on Instagram individuals can easily share with stories during the whole day, which disappear after 24 hours. It stimulates to waiting for updates. What is more interesting even people after

60s age are likely to have an account on social media which is makes this generation more modernized.

It is said that blogs might be private and public by their content. Private ones are likely to have personal information and opinions that an individual share on social platforms while public ones are more about the business. People create them to promote their product or service and spread it to the wider audience on the Internet that they could buy or see it.

The character of blogs as simultaneously private and public enables the formation of both individual and group identities. Through extensive narratives and often highly personal descriptions of day-to-day activities, and through the use of images, a blogger reveals and creates—intentionally or not—his or her unique online identity. Through the use of blogroll, links, and comment features, and through development of communal norms, the blogger reveals and creates his or her group identity [5].

In conclusion, social networking is a strong tool that everyone can use in order to achieve something valuable. As Standage (2013) noted that since long before inventing the Internet, humans have developed technologies, from writing to calling cards to the telegraph with which they have engaged in social networking, information sharing, and joint creative activity. Today it is another world of communication.
