The academic field of women’s writing is a distinct subfield of literary studies that is founded on the idea that women’s experiences have historically been influenced their gender, making women writers by definition a group deserving of independent investigation: It is acceptable to argue that women writers have a significant role in both contemporary and historical English literature. It wouldn’t be incorrect to argue that English women authors have made a significant enough impression on the literary world in every genre, including romance and poetry.
