We analyze More's engagement with Platonic and Aristotelian philosophy, as well as his critique of the prevailing socio-economic order. Social Structure and Governance

This chapter focuses on the social structure and governance of More's utopian society, examining its unique institutions, laws, and customs. We explore the principles of communal living, equality, and citizenship that underpin Utopian society, as well as the role of education, labor, and religion in shaping individual and collective life. By scrutinizing the strengths and weaknesses of Utopian governance, we uncover the tensions between idealism and realism that animate More's narrative.

Critique and Interpretation

We examine the ways in which More's work has been read, interpreted, and appropriated over the centuries, tracing its influence on political thought, literature, and popular culture.
