The article describes how to use HOT POTATOES in teaching foreign languages. The possibilities of using the software Jquiz, Jcloze, Jcross, Jmix, Jmatch to prepare tests to strengthen students' knowledge are analyzed. Examples of using Jquiz, Jcloze, Jcross, Jmix, Jmatch, TheMasher are given.

USING SOFTWARE FOR TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Abstract: the article describes how to use HOT POTATOES in teaching foreign languages. The possibilities of using the software Jquiz, Jcloze, Jcross, Jmix, Jmatch to prepare tests to strengthen students' knowledge are analyzed. Examples of using Jquiz, Jcloze, Jcross, Jmix, Jmatch, TheMasher are given.

In connection with the rapid development of information and communication technologies, one of the features of our time, special attention is paid to the organization and use of new learning opportunities. The 21st century is the century of high technologies, and our young people are watching not only the spirit of the era, but also the pace of development in the electronic world. Therefore, a different approach to the education of the younger generation is required. The role of the teacher in the classroom is changing. The teacher is now basically a manager. It is time for educators to move on to the last word of pedagogical software.

Hot Potatoes provides networking exercises for learning foreign languages. The exercises created on it can be used on a computer equipped with an additional browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera, Chrome, Safari, Google, ...). The exercises are written in HTML and JavaScript, but you can use the program without having to understand the language. I would like to say that even a program user who is not familiar with programming languages can easily create various types of interactive exercises in it.

You need to enter information (questions and answers) in the test exercise and click on the button "Last web page". You can even create an application interface in Uzbek (interface Choice-Interface-Translation). It should be noted that the program allows professionals who can work in HTML and JavaScript to make small changes.

The Hot Potatoes JQuiz program can include four types of test tasks: alternative, writing a short answer, a hybrid (a question with a short answer appears as an alternative question after several attempts), multi-selective, you can choose one correct one from several options).

In an alternative test assignment, the following occurs when the student selects one of the answer options. If the answer is correct :-) (emoticon), otherwise the X will be displayed. The student will also be able to understand why the answer is correct or incorrect. If the answer is incorrect, the student will continue to choose the correct answer. The score is determined by the number of student answers. However, the program allows you to consider the remaining alternatives without losing student grades. You will need to click the alternative answer button. This opportunity will help the student develop alternative thinking and develop the ability to compare and evaluate decisions.

The question is structured as follows: Multiple choice tasks give two or more correct answers.

In the test form for writing short JQuiz answers, the student will have to write an answer (Fig. 1). The student can use the Hint button. This key displays the word letters one by one, and it also has a help function. In this case, the estimate depends on the quantity appeals (Fig. 2). This form of practice helps you remember words, but also helps you write them without spelling mistakes (Fig. 3).

You can create crosswords in JCross software. The grid can be customized to any size. As mentioned in the programs above, the auxiliary tooltip "Tip" is also available. The student also learns to spell words when answering questions

JMix creates a mixture of words. To determine the correct answer, it is necessary to correctly compose a sequence of several words. In this test exercise, the student feels as if he is playing a game (Fig. 2). During the test exercise, he will also automatically learn to correctly formulate the grammar of sentences.

JMatch software generates appropriate responses. On the right is a mixed list of answers. Then the student must find a match. (Fig. 4).

The exam can be compared to solving puzzles.

The Masher. We already mentioned that Hot Potatoes is a five-part test program. But there is a sixth program. He does not create a test exercise, his task is to organize a set of exercises in a single file form. You can download the file and perform all the test steps. The list is formed by the teacher. Thus, it is possible to combine the test items related to a particular chapter or paragraph into one file and present it to the student or place them in the test of an electronic textbook. Since the created files are in HTML format and most e-books are created in this language, there are no problems with exercise applications.

The task of creating tasks in the programs Jquiz, Jcloze, Jcross, Jmix, Jmatch contributes to the creative thinking of every teacher of a foreign language.
