This article investigates the benefits and dangers of integrating ICT into English classes, focusing on the writing process of Uzbek ESL students at the university level. A modern English teacher cannot and should not ignore using ICT in the class and at the same time must be able to use this innovative approach for language skills' development purposes. While designing a task, an activity or assignment for final assessments the teacher should take into consideration three aspects such as English language skills, ICT skills and Culture. Every input of the modern teacher should bring a practical output of the students and this output serves for the personal and professional development of the learners. Subsequently, the article suggests a collaborative task for university level students called “wikis” supported with evaluation criteria and ideas for further development. These findings indicate that to implement ICT in the English and cooperating with IT teacher can save more time and bring better results.

Abstract: this article investigates the benefits and dangers of integrating ICT into English classes, focusing on the writing process of Uzbek ESL students at the university level. Subsequently, the article suggests a collaborative task for university level students called "wikis" supported with evaluation criteria and ideas for further development. These findings indicate that to implement ICT in the English and cooperating with IT teacher can save more time and bring better results.

XXI century started only 15 years ago but its achievements outweigh the lack of passed time. People have accustomed to integrate more than 2 or 3 tasks into one and solve the problem of time constraint. We can see doctors sending the analysis results into patients' emails and it saves the patients nerves and time. We can witness banks presenting its clients the service of online payment and it reduces the queue in front of the cashier. But how can we integrate ICT to the educational process? What results can it bring and what shortcomings of traditional teaching can it eliminate? What aspects of this integration should a modern teacher take into consideration? This article tries to find answers to these questions and investigates the appropriate usage of ICT focusing on the teaching process of Uzbek EFL students at the university level [1.73].

First of all, it is important to identify why we need to integrate ICT into education. Is it done to develop the language skills of the learners or just for having fun in the class time? The application of ICT in English classes presents a modern ESL teacher the following chances:

1. Usage of authentic material

2. Saving time in assessment

3. Raising students' motivation to learn more and faster

4. Teach the students to correct pronunciation

5. Raising students' cultural awareness about English-speaking countries

6. Saving extra paper work both in terms of printing and sending mails

7. Editing the essays and many more others.

In general, all language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing can have then-own authentic digital supplementary materials. A modern ESL teacher has lots of weapons in his/ her arsenal to conduct the English lesson in interactive way in combination with ICT ranging from watching English films to singing songs. The benefits from these activities are based on the language oriented exercises and these very exercises decide was the input of the teacher practical or was it just a timesaver. If the teacher just shows the film and ask questions at the end of the lesson, it can bring less positive results compared to the logically constructed re-, while and after- phases of watching the film [2.210].

The task should not trigger the learner to be interested in Mass Culture. The materials of the task should not evoke provocative thoughts in multicultural communities. The

integration of ICT in education should not be cause of the learners' isolation and super autonomy. Having considered the 3 aspects of the integration (ICT, Culture and English), the following task can be recommended to the implementation in the summative assessment stage in the university level. The task has been suggested by D. Larsen-Freeman and M. Anderson with the term of "wikis" and it refers to a quick way to create and edit web-documents. They recommend this type of task for group-writing and assume that teacher will be able to observe the results of students online. This task can be adapted to Uzbek context by taking into consideration above counted points of cultural aspect and purposes of the integration. As a part of curriculum, the students at the university level are assigned an independent work. Usually the independent work may be in the form of a report, PPT presentation, poster presentation or video recording. While these assignments are not less contributive to the development of learner's language skills, the "wikis" can be added to the list as well [3.77].

In conclusion, a modern English teacher cannot and should not ignore using ICT in the class and at the same time must be able to use for language skills' development purposes. While designing a task, an activity or assignment for final assessments the teacher should take into consideration three aspects such as English language skills, ICT skills and Culture. Every input of the modern teacher should bring a practical output of the students and this output serves for the personal and professional development of the learners.
