comprehensively examines the role of the family and society in preserving national customs and traditions.
1. Importance of National Customs and Traditions
National customs and traditions are an integral part of the spiritual wealth, historical memory, and cultural heritage of the people. They play an important role in preserving the identity of the people, strengthening solidarity, and ensuring order and discipline in society. Customs and traditions are manifested in the family, society, and during national holidays.
Cultural Identity and Continuity
National customs and traditions help maintain cultural identity and ensure continuity between generations. They provide a sense of belonging and pride, reinforcing the connection to the past and the community.
Social Cohesion
Traditions foster social cohesion by creating shared experiences and values. They bring people together, promoting unity and mutual understanding. For example, traditional festivals and celebrations serve as communal events where individuals come together to celebrate shared heritage[1].
Moral and Ethical Framework
National customs and traditions often embody the moral and ethical values of a society. They provide a framework for acceptable behavior and societal norms, guiding individuals in their interactions and decision-making.
2. The Role of the Family
The family is the primary environment for preserving national values and transmitting them to future generations. The main responsibilities of the family in this regard are:
Upbringing
Children in the family are brought up based on national values, customs, and traditions. Parents and the older generation teach the young their life experiences and knowledge. This process begins at an early age and continues throughout childhood and adolescence[2].
Examples:
• Parents telling folk stories and legends to their children, which contain moral lessons and cultural values.
• Teaching children traditional crafts, such as weaving, pottery, or embroidery, which are passed down through generations.

Practice
Celebrating national holidays, ceremonies, and traditional events in the family helps preserve customs. For example, Navruz, weddings, and other national ceremonies.
Examples:
• Preparing and sharing traditional dishes during festivals, such as sumalak during Navruz.
• Organizing and participating in traditional weddings, which involve specific rituals and customs unique to the culture.
Cultural Heritage
Practicing national clothing, dishes, and customs in the family instills respect for national values in children. It also helps children understand the significance of these traditions and their role in maintaining cultural identity[3].
Examples:
• Wearing traditional attire during significant cultural events or celebrations.
• Preparing and enjoying traditional meals as a family, explaining the origins and significance of each dish.
3. The Role of Society
Society also plays a significant role in preserving national customs and traditions. Various institutions and organizations in society actively participate in transmitting national values to the younger generation:
Educational Institutions
Schools and universities organize lessons, events, and competitions aimed at studying national values. This instills respect for national values in the youth.
Examples:
• Incorporating courses on national history, culture, and literature into the school curriculum.
• Organizing cultural festivals and competitions where students can showcase their knowledge of national traditions.
Cultural Centers and Museums
Cultural centers and museums work to preserve and transmit national culture and history to the youth. These places promote national values and provide opportunities for young people to learn about them.
Examples:
• Exhibits showcasing traditional artifacts, clothing, and tools.
• Interactive workshops and guided tours that educate visitors about the significance of cultural heritage.
