THE CASIMCEA TABLELAND - GEOMORPHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Casimcea overlaps the green schist between the Peceneaga-Camena fault (Alorman and Slava Rusa Valleys) to the north and Topalu-Tasaul fault to the south. The Alorman and Slava Rusa Valleys flow in opposite directions separating Casimcea from Babadag. The southern limit is sinous, and its represented by the Carasu Basin.

Morphology, Casimcea is formed of wide plateus which incline towards south-west, south and south-east, in this same direction the plateus grow wider and their fragmentation decreases. The valleys have wide headwaters, their middle course is much deepened and their inferior course is strongly alluviated.

A special image is given by the pediments and inselberg-like outliers. The pediment formation is due to thermo-pedimentation, and their development takes places in arid environment.

On the loess-like deposits which follow perfectly the preexisting landforms there are pipping steep slopes, the crumbling glacis.

The landforms mould on the green schist, typical for the intensely folded structures, is not obvious in the landscape due to the intense leveling erosion.

These landforms are almost horizontal, fragmented by symmetrical and asymmetrical valleys and general massive. On the contact line between limestone and schist formed limestone dammed depressions such as: Mireasa and Targusor.
