For an organization to be considered socially responsible, there are different perspectives on how it should behave in relation to the social environment. First, if an organization operates in the most beneficial manner and respects all the laws and regulations of its location, then it is a socially responsible organization. According to the first perspective, the organization should consider only economic objectives.

According to the second point of view, in addition to the obligations of a purely economic nature, the organization is obliged to take into account the human and social aspects of the impact of its work on employees, consumers and local communities, as well as to make a positive contribution to solving the social problems of society.

The true role of television in society. Benefit and efficiency. Conflicting views on the concept of social responsibility emerged as a result of the debate on the organization's goals. A group of people consider the organization to be only an economic phenomenon and say that its only duty is to use resources efficiently. An organization fulfills an economic function by using resources efficiently - producing goods and services for society in a free market economy, thereby providing employment and maximizing profits and dividends for its shareholders.

Direct social movements. Another group of people believe that organization is not just an economic phenomenon. According to them, modern organizations are an integral part of an environment that includes many elements on which the organization's survival depends. Such elements (also known as stakeholders) include local communities, consumers, suppliers, the media, public influence groups, trade unions, as well as employees and shareholders. Because this diverse community strongly influences the organization's success in achieving its goals, the organization must balance its pure economic interests with the economic and social interests of all elements of its environment.

From this point of view, organizations have a responsibility to the society in which they operate, in addition to and beyond their obligations to operate efficiently, create jobs, provide benefits, and comply with the law. As a result, they should direct part of their resources and work towards social goals and spend resources to improve the material well-being of society.

Law and social responsibility. As mentioned, society's expectations of entrepreneurship change over the years, which in turn affects society's perception of the true and proper role of entrepreneurship. At this stage we need to clarify the concepts of law and social responsibility.

Legal responsibility refers to compliance with specific laws and regulations that require an organization to do and not do. There are hundreds and even thousands of laws and regulations on each topic: for example, how much toxic substances should be in the wastewater of industrial enterprises, what actions are considered illegal when hiring employees, what goods cannot be exported, etc. An organization that complies with all laws and regulations behaves as a legally responsible organization, but it does not always act as a socially responsible organization.

Unlike legal responsibility, social responsibility implies a certain degree of voluntary response of the organization to social issues. A concert by a famous rock band can be considered an example of socially responsible acts, as the proceeds from their concert go to help the starving people of Ethiopia, which obviously no law or custom obliges the singers to do.

Supporting and resisting social responsibility. Debates about the role of business in society have given rise to many arguments about whether or not it should be socially responsible.

A favorable, long-term future for the company. Social actions by companies that improve the living conditions of the local community are usually beneficial for companies. A healthy, well-equipped community is a more conducive environment for entrepreneurship.
