Gynaecological diseases are among the most common disorders diagnosed in women. These conditions were commonly associated with high stress and had a negative impact on the quality of life and psychological well-being of the women involved. The psychological impact of depends on the severity of the disorder and the obstruction of the symptoms to work and social activities. In many cases, gynaecological disorders can be considered disabling conditions that significantly affect women's daily lives, social relationships, sex and mental health. The purpose of this brief commentary on is to outline the psychological effects of some of the most common gynaecological diseases in order to highlight the importance of a psychological approach to gynaecological patients to improved adherence to treatment and quality of life.

Gynaecological cancer is undoubtedly the condition that most affects the quality of life and psychological well-being of the affected women. It is estimated that gynaecological cancer has an incidence of 17% worldwide. Endometrial cancer is the most common and the incidence is .53%. The prevalence of endometriosis is about 6-10% in women of childbearing age with peak levels in women aged 25 to 30 years. Women with endometriosis may experience a variety of symptoms, including menstrual irregularities, chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, pain with intercourse, dyspepsia, and dysuria. Several studies on this topic have shown that women with endometriosis exhibit high levels of somatization, depression, sensitivity, and anxiety.

In addition, -associated women with endometriosis with pelvic pain have a low quality of life and comorbid psychological comorbidities may amplify pain perception

in these patients. Again, it is clear that psychological support should be an integral part of endometriosis treatment in order to improve the overall health of women with this disorder.

Other benign conditions that can affect quality of life and psychological well-being are uterine fibroids and pelvic prolapse. Uterine fibroids are benign tumours of various sizes that arise from the muscle tissue of the uterus and have an incidence of 20-50%. The most common symptoms of fibroids are bleeding, heavy periods, anaemia, pelvic pain, heaviness, and in some cases infertility. T1 ~ document

Psychological monitoring was recommended for these patients to select the most appropriate treatment and to manage its consequences satisfactorily.

Pelvic prolapse is a complex condition defined as the prolapse of the anterior vaginal wall, the posterior vaginal wall, the uterus (cervix) or the top of the vagina. Bladder prolapse is one of the most common types of pelvic prolapse and is characterized by pathological hernias of the anterior vaginal wall. Uterine prolapse can be associated with a variety of urinary, bowel, and sexual symptoms that can significantly affect a patient's sex drive and quality of life. In these cases, surgical treatment can significantly reduce the negative impact of symptoms on quality of life and psychological well-being. Urinary incontinence is a common problem associated with pelvic prolapse and can further impair a woman's overall health. In these cases, -proven tools should be used to assess the quality of life of these patients in order to provide psychological support in high-risk cases.

In conclusion, this brief reflection aims to demonstrate that women with gynaecological problems are often at increased risk for psychological illnesses such as anxiety and depression and have a poor quality of life. For this reason, psychologists should engage in a team approach and assist gynaecologists in the proper management of these diseases.

SUMMARY

Gynaecological diseases are often associated with high stress and have a negative impact on quality of life and psychological well-being of women affected. Ovarian cancer is the second most common gynaecologic malignancy and is the leading cause of death among women diagnosed with gynaecological cancer in Western countries. Multimodal treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy may be associated with negative consequences in sexual, psychological and social functioning. Gynaecologic cancer is often associated with sexual dysfunctions, body image disorders, decreased quality of life, anxiety and depressive symptoms. Psychological support should be an integral part of the therapeutic process for these conditions to improve the general well-being of women affected. Uterine fibroids and pelvic prolapse are two benign conditions that can compromise quality of life and psychological well-being. Uterine fibroids are benign tumours of various sizes that originate from the uterus muscle tissue and have an incidence of 20-50%. Treatments for uterine fibroids have a negative impact on psychological and emotional well-being. Pelvic prolapse is a complex condition defined by the descent of anterior vaginal wall, posterior vaginal wall, the uterus (cervix), or the apex of the vagina. In high-risk cases, surgical treatment may reduce the negative impact of the symptoms on quality of life and psychological wellbeing. Psychologists should be involved in a team approach and assist gynaecologists for an adequate management of these diseases.
