Annotation: This article deals with the use of video material in teaching a foreign language in high school. The aim of this article is to study the effectiveness of foreign language teaching with video.

Key words: teaching, foreign language, video materials, communication, methods.

The teachers of a foreign language of higher education are faced with the task of increasing the motivation of students to learn a foreign language, encouraging them to independently learn language material. It is a well-known fact that it is motivation that influences the effectiveness of teaching foreign languages. It is very important to instill in students a desire to understand "someone else's speech" by ear, to promote the development of cultural and regional geographic competence.

After all, mastering a foreign language is not only speaking, but also the perception of the interlocutor's speech by ear. To this end, teachers are trying to involve students in watching videos in a foreign language. Often these are videos about the life of the countries of the language being studied and their scientific achievements.

Watching video films acts as an independent type of communicative activity, the motive of which is listening comprehension of information in the target language. Video in this role is widely used for educational purposes.

Pedagogical experience shows that independent work with the use of video materials expands the language of students, helps to better understand the history and culture of the studied language, traditions and customs of the people. Independent work is aimed at the formation of professional competencies and an increase in the creative activity of students. Thus, due to the use of video materials, students develop linguistic sociocultural competence.

The effectiveness of teaching a foreign language using video is not only in the selection and presentation of video, but also in the proper organization of independent work. It is the proper organization of independent work that is one of the key didactic-organizing problems and the main component of higher education in teaching foreign languages. When working with a video film, it is allowed to use textbooks, dictionaries, grammar reference books that help analyze video.

Learning English using videos contributes to better memorization of new vocabulary. And working with assignments in English, before and after watching videos, is aimed at improving communicative competence. Having mastered

communicative competence, one can speak a foreign language freely.

Admittedly undeniable is the fact that watching videos is one of the most effective ways to learn a foreign language.

First, the video footage represents the live speech of native speakers. When we watch movies in English, we receive information as it is, which the translator's hand has not touched.

Secondly, watching videos in a foreign language increases the level of the language, enriches the vocabulary.

Thirdly, the video materials acquaint with the language of facial expressions and gestures, the style of relationships and the realities of the country of the language being studied.

Today, videos in foreign languages can be found through Internet resources. The modern educational process of learning is characterized by the basic position of information and the functional use of well-known Internet sources. Among the most popular educational online resources is the Internet resource: "linguaspectrum.com", which implements a comprehensive program for the development of communicative skills and universal educational activities. It is general educational competencies that constitute the main component of a modern English course. This resource is interesting in that it contains videos of various subjects and degrees of complexity from Elementary to Proficiency.

Video recordings are mainly aimed at expanding vocabulary and learning English idioms. The advantage of this resource is that after watching the video, you can consolidate your knowledge with the help of an interactive test. Another modern resource is englishcentral.com. The advantage of this resource is that the videos are divided into three levels of complexity: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced of different subjects. All videos are accompanied by English subtitles. The advantage is that you can learn about the meaning of the new word in English by clicking on it with the cursor. After watching the video, you must fill in the words missing in the subtitles and recognize them by ear. Then you need to listen to the phrase and repeat it into the microphone. This way you can check how well the students have memorized the new vocabulary from the video.

Online resource: engvid.com.- one of the most popular resources for learning English among students all over the world. It is suitable for students starting at the Pre-Intermediate level and above. Video feed is available and exciting. Here is a video for practicing pronunciation, for expanding the lexical and grammatical material and preparing for international exams. Practically after each video, a test is given to check the learned material.

Fascinating lectures of different subjects offers a resource: ted.com. This resource is suitable for students with a level not lower than Intermediate. The disadvantage of this resource is that there is no division by difficulty levels. But the advantage is that you can choose a movie of any length. And also this resource allows you to hear "live" English from the mouth of ordinary people. Often, famous scientists, politicians, businessmen, actors who discuss issues of modern technologies and innovations, business and culture become heroes of the video. A

transcript (text) is also attached to the video, which also makes it easier to understand what is seen. While playing the video, the program will automatically highlight the words spoken by the speaker, which is great for those who find it difficult to perceive English by ear. It can be concluded that using video both in an English class and during after-hours can help solve a number of didactic tasks:

• to develop listening skills and skills,

• to improve the skills of monologue and dialogical utterance, based on viewing language material;

• to replenish the vocabulary of modern English k; d) to get acquainted with the peculiarities of culture and traditions of the country of the language being studied.

So, using video material in a foreign language lesson at a university, you can make an English lesson useful and exciting, thereby increasing students' motivation.
