The Republic of Kazakhstan has large reserves of strong rock building stone suitable for the production of facing and industrial products. Significant reserves of these rocks in Eastern, Central and Southern Kazakhstan are represented by granites of various compositions and different colors. These include amazonite granites of the Maikul deposit, red granites of the Kurdai and Akbakai deposits, granodiorites of the Kayrakty deposit, granites of the Kurty, Arasan-Kapal, Alatagyl, Zheltau deposits already being developed with a unique bluish-greenish color, and others [1,2].
Most of the deposits of igneous and metamorphic rocks are located in the southern and southeastern regions of Kazakhstan and are associated with the structures of the Dzungaro - Balkhash and Chingiz-Tarbagatai folded systems on the periphery of the Kazakhstan Shield. The granitoid deposits of the Zhambyl and Almaty regions are the most studied and developed, where they are usually confined to the later Paleozoic Balkhash-Ili intrusive belt. All these deposits are located in favorable geographical and economic conditions.
The Kurtinskoye (Kurty) deposit of fine-grained granites of light brown and brown - beige (chocolate) shades has been developed in the Almaty region. In the Zhambyl region, it is necessary to distinguish the "Kurdai" deposit of highly decorative red medium-grained granites, as well as a number of deposits of a wide range of colors: dark gray homogeneous granites with a greenish tinge "Akbakayskoye" (848 thousand m3), "Zeltau" of the Zeltau massif, pink, pink-red and yellow granites of the "Zeltau 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6", gray - pinkish granites of the "Nadezhda" site, grayish - pink - beige porphyritic granites "Zhalgyzskoye" (Zhalgyz).
According to forecast estimates for the coming decades, the growth of granite consumption, and natural stone in general, will continue, and the world production of natural stone will increase by more than 4 times. There is also a steady growth trend in the volume of consumption of this material in the Kazakhstan market of natural stone. The beginning of this trend is associated with the country's economy emerging from a protracted economic crisis. Since 1999, the consumption of natural stone in Kazakhstan has been increasing by an average of 10-12% per year. At the same time, such a rapid growth in demand for natural stone does not mean similar rates of development of domestic stone mining and stone processing. Already today, more than a third of the domestic consumption of natural stone is provided by imports. If urgent measures are not taken, then in 2-3 years an imported manufacturer, primarily Chinese, will take the place of Kazakhstani stone processors on the market. The way out of this situation is an intensive increase in the production potential of Kazakhstani enterprises for the extraction and processing of natural stone. To do this, it is necessary to build new enterprises, re-equip and reconstruct existing factories and quarries, and most importantly - to increase production efficiency, both at existing and under construction enterprises [2].
At the moment, granite is still being ordered from China, since local manufacturers can satisfy an order of any complexity in a short time, and this is sometimes crucial [3]. But do not forget that Kazakhstani granite has a significant advantage over granite from other countries.
