Humans have been practicing medicine in one way or another for over a million years. It is important to know about the history of medicine to understand the modern.
The need to assistance at damages causes the emergence of medicine. Accumulating medicine knowledge doctors in Egypt, Babylonia, India and China have discovered treatment of sicks.
Ancient Egypt produced medical tradition. Their knowledge was based on knowledge of human anatomy. Doctors knew that the body had a pulse and that it was related to the function of the heart. Also they had knowledge about bone structure, brain and liver.
Along with the Egyptians the Babylonians practiced diagnosis, prognosis, physical examination and remedies.
Ancient Greek medicine is probably the basis of modern medicine. Also the statement of diagnoses by Greek doctors were not that different from modern.
Roman surgeons sterilized their equipment in boiling water before usage. Also they tried to use opium.
Medieval surgeons became experts in external surgery and treated eye cataracts, ulcers and various types of wounds. Also this period is famous for great persons and new pathogens like Black Death and Plague.
All this information helps us to understand and trace how and where the medicine originated and how it developed over time in different countries.
Thanks to this knowledge, which for centuries have passed to each other, improved and deepened, we got that level of medicine and magnificent discoveries that we have today.
