Annotation. The article focuses on the problem of motivation in teaching a foreign language and determining the role of motivation in improving students' communicative skills.

The result of the work will be an increase in the level of enthusiasm for learning English, the development of creative abilities, and an increase in the quality of academic performance.

Keywords: motivation; teaching a foreign language; creative abilities; education; learning.

How to make the lesson interesting and attractive, and how to ensure that children learn the language material well and firmly. Success depends on many factors - the teacher's knowledge of his subject, methodological skills, the general erudition of the teacher, the ability to understand and communicate with children, and even the charm of a person. In other words, a teacher should be an educated, creative and interesting person. Such a teacher looks for new forms, ways, methods and methods of teaching in the course of his activities. But it is not enough in the current stage of teaching English. Due to computerization in general, the teacher needs to think in a new way, so a modern teacher must meet modern requirements: be flexible, able to restructure his activity, meet modern requirements, etc. use of new pedagogical technologies in their work [1].

In order to achieve the goals set in my activities, in particular, to develop and improve students' communicative skills, I use various methods: games, songs, scenes, etc.

I would like to elaborate on some of them in my work.

Play is one of the most powerful motives in learning a foreign language.

In the learning process, the game activity performs the following functions:

1) Educational activity consists of development of memory, attention, perception of information, development of general educational business and skills, and also contributes to learning a foreign language.

2) Educational activity - education of qualities such as attention to the partner, moral attitude in the game; and develops a sense of mutual help and mutual support. Phrases-clichés of speech etiquette are introduced to improvise the attractiveness of speaking in a foreign language, which helps students develop qualities such as politeness.

3) The fun function is to create a favorable atmosphere in the classroom, turning the lesson into an interesting and unusual event, an interesting adventure, sometimes a fairy tale world.

4) Communicative activity - creating an atmosphere of communication in a foreign language, uniting the student body, establishing new emotional-communicative relationships based on interaction in a foreign language.

5) Relaxation function - removing emotional tension caused by stress on the nervous system during intensive foreign language learning .

6) The psychological function consists in the formation of skills to prepare your physiological state for more effective activity, as well as psychological restructuring for the assimilation of large volumes of information.

7) The developmental function is aimed at the harmonious development of personality traits in order to activate the reserve capabilities of an individual [2].

Requirements for the game as a way to achieve the learning goal:

1) it is necessary to know exactly what skills and abilities are practiced in this game, what the child did not know what to do before the game and what he learned during the game. If in the game the child repeats songs and rhymes, repeats memorized dialogues, then he will not learn new skills and abilities in the game. If he learns to change words, to choose the right word according to its meaning, to compose a phrase or text or just a phrase by himself, then the child acquires new skills;

2) the game should put the child in front of the need for mental strength, even if it is small. It is not necessary to strictly give children the rules of the game, any scheme or picture can be used [3].

I play games with specific goals:

1. formation of certain skills;

2. development of certain speaking skills;

3. to teach how to communicate;

4. development of necessary abilities and mental functions;

5. education (in the field of language formation);

6. memorizing speech material.

Based on these goals, I will highlight several game groups that develop a child's intelligence and cognitive activity.

6. Grammar games

The purpose of this type is to teach students to use speech patterns that contain certain grammatical difficulties, to create a natural environment for using these speech patterns, to develop students' speech creativity and independence.

2. Lexical games

This type of game has the following goals - to accustom students to use the vocabulary in situations close to the natural environment, to introduce the harmony of words, to activate speech-thinking activities, to develop students' speech reactions.

3. Phonetic games

They practice and develop pronunciation skills: intonation of sentences, phonemes. You can use a game called intonation game

4. Spelling games.

The purpose of these games is to practice writing English words. Some of the games are designed to train students' memory, and some are designed for some rules in the spelling of English words.

5. Creative games.

The purpose of the games is to teach students to understand the meaning of one sentence, to teach them to distinguish the main thing in the flow of information, to develop students' auditory memory [4].

Songs are used to develop communication skills. While reading the song, students get new information that increases cognitive activity.

It is impossible not to mention the aesthetic motivation. It affects the formation of positive feelings, emotions, develops imagination. All this is possible when students happily sing their favorite song in a foreign language.

Usage of the song:

• contributes to the improvement of pronunciation skills;

• allows to achieve accuracy in articulation, rhythm and intonation;

• deepens knowledge of the English language;

• enriches vocabulary;

• develops reading and listening skills and abilities;

• encourages monologue and dialogue speech;

• develops prepared and spontaneous speech.

Moreover, the song introduces an element of celebration rather than tradition into the process of language learning and has a significant impact on the emotional sphere of students. It was observed that the activity of a foreign language in the background of music not only helps to remember the material, but also relieves fatigue in the learning process [5].

When choosing content, the learning material should be emotionally charged and memorable. The lesson material should have clear, specific images. If students do not see pictures of social life, culture, countries, people, then they will learn only words that have no vital importance and are quickly forgotten.

Non-standard types of lessons play a big role in maintaining and maintaining interest in the subject, and in developing cognitive activity. A non-standard lesson includes a variety of emotionally bright, non-traditional teaching methods and methods that not only increase children's interest in learning, but also serve to develop certain abilities: the ability to recite rhymes, the development of pronunciation skills, one stage. As a literary and life situation, singing in English, answering and evaluating in conversations, reporting information about events and facts, observing speech etiquette, becoming familiar with traditions, customs and culture. Heritage of English-speaking countries. All activities of students in the classroom are subject to the communicative goal of teaching English.

In order to make children interested in learning English, it is necessary to organize such a learning process that creates high motivation and ensures their activity in the

classroom. It is these methods and approaches that contribute to the development of broad cognitive motives
