We can't imagine our lives today without the internet, smart gadgets. As a result of these inventions, we are in harmony with the people of the world today. That gave us a lot of advantages, of course. It takes only seconds for us today to share the news of science and the masterpieces of knowledge around the world. However, the expansion of people's spheres of influence does not include only positive aspects.

Today, the world can be compared to a vast ocean of information. It has already become one of the most important factors for humanity to be healthy, mentally mature, deep-thinking and open-minded, as well as to have a broad outlook, so as not to fall into the current. However, the flow of information is so vast and varied that even all of the above qualities are lacking in order to distinguish between good and evil, truth and injustice, and fiction and truth. Because the information is endless, and being knowledgeable in all areas is an unattainable achievement for a human child.

So, what is the solution to this problem that the world's intellectuals are proposing today? As far as I know, the ability to think critically is mentioned today as the most effective way to evaluate different information correctly. A lot of people understand criticism when they hear the word critical thinking. Critical thinking in their minds means expressing negative opinions, rejecting someone's opinion, questioning it. In fact, it is actually a mistake to think so. What is critical thinking? To illustrate this point, let's take a look at a brief description of it and some thoughts and comments about it:

Critical thinking is not about criticizing everything. It is about analyzing the information that comes to us, questioning its validity, and making an independent assessment of the situation.

So how do you get critical thinking done? We will answer this by analyzing the news below:

Think about who benefits from this message. Ask yourself if you read the news. So why was this news published? First of all, to whom, to which organization and government is this message more useful? The motive for this message needs to be determined.

Always check the source. On the internet, it's pretty easy. The source is often linked to, where you can click to see where the message came from. In other cases, do your own research and find out from which site, the information on the site, the audience, the quality. It turns out that a lot of the world's news today is simply enriched from sources that are "yellow press." For example, if a scientist is mentioned, search the Internet for information about that scientist. Discuss this news with others. Write the post, not the news itself. Listen to the objections and arguments of others and compare. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. Keep in mind that you may also be mistaken or misjudged! 1

Many developed countries have for many years approached the development of critical thinking skills in their citizens as a serious issue. In the U.S. education system, for example, teaching the same skills is already a priority.

For many years, the educational process in our country has been based on memorization skills. Although this type of teaching is only partially relevant in some areas and raises the level of knowledge, it does not serve to develop the ability to think in them. This can lead to a gradual hardening or stagnation of the ability to think, an inability to evaluate situations correctly, and blindly following memorized ideas and opinions.

However, in Uzbekistan, too, for three or four years now, the focus has been on critical thinking. In particular, the establishment of presidential schools in 2019-2021 at the initiative of the President has laid a solid foundation for the emergence of the concept of critical thinking in the minds of our people. This is because the presidential school qualifying exams also include questions that determine the level of critical thinking. There is a strong belief among our people that enrollment in presidential schools can be one of the cornerstones of a brighter future for young people. This encourages our youth to develop critical thinking skills.

It is worth noting that in 2021, new alphabet books have been created for 1st graders to help them not only read and write, but also develop critical and creative thinking skills from an early age.

Despite these positive changes, much remains to be done to develop critical thinking skills in our citizens. I think it is necessary to take a stronger approach to the issue of starting reforms, first of all, in kindergartens and schools. After all, our wise people did not say in vain that the child is from the beginning!
