Russia, Moscow GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN RUSSIA At the end of the 20th century the increased power of the economy and negative trends of globalization became a huge destructive force. Unfortunately, the ability of nature to self-repair and support the progress of humanity wasn't unlimited. Moreover, the war for resources has exacerbated the situation and lead to the dramatic increase in poverty of the population. As a result, the world faced the problem of unprecedented difficulty - the need to create a new model of civilization development that could withstand the global socio-political, economic and environmental crisis.
The primary strategic goal of Russia's sustainable development is to raise the living standards and the quality of life of the population on the basis of scientific and technological progress, the dynamic development of the economy and the social sphere, realizing the potential for the benefit of present and future generations.
The sustainability of Russia is determined by its huge reserves of natural resources. Thus, the natural wealth of Russia is the basis for solving its economic and social problems. Probably, at the present stage, the only way to enter the path of sustainable growth is the rejection of intensive sales of resources and the fair distribution of natural rents.
To sum it up, the sustainable development is an evolutionary process. Actually, it's the task both for the whole civilization and for each specific country, that requires the formulation of goals at each stage.
