The article deals with the formation and development of foreign-language professional and communicative competence of technical university students in the process of teaching a foreign language in the conditions of education modernization. The author formulates the main ways to achieve this goal. Based on the practical experience of working with students of technical specialities, the author describes the method of problem-based learning used for the development and formation of foreign-language professional-communicative competence (round table method), which is of particular interest to students of technical specialities and is effective for activating the skills of oral communication in a foreign language.

Формирование и развитие иноязычной профессионально-коммуникативной компетенции студентов технического вуза в ходе применения активных и интерактивных технологий обучения

В статье поставлена цель рассмотреть вопрос о формировании и развитии иноязычной профессионально-коммуникативной компетенции студентов технического вуза в процессе обучения иностранному языку в условиях модернизации образования. Автором сформулированы основные способы достижения данной цели. Основываясь на практическом опыте работы со студентами технических специальностей, автор статьи описывает метод проблемного обучения, используемый в процессе работы со студентами по развитию и формированию иноязычной профессионально-коммуникативной компетенции (метод «круглого стола»), который вызывает особый интерес у студентов технических специальностей и является эффективным для активизации навыков устного общения на иностранном языке.

Abstract. The article deals with the formation and development of foreign-language professional and communicative competence of technical university students in the process of teaching a foreign language in the conditions of education modernization. Introduction

The process of modernization of the Russian education system in the conditions of socio-economic changes in society includes the actualization of the problem of improving the quality of higher education, which is characterized not only by the amount of knowledge in the specialty, but also by the ability of future graduates to foreign-language communication with specialists from other countries.1 Thus, the socio-economic need for specialists who are able to effectively carry out foreign-language professionally oriented activities at the international level2, as well as the issue of the need for quality foreign-language professionally oriented training of students of technical higher education institution on the basis of problem-based learning determined the choice of the topic of this article: "Formation and development of foreign-language professional and communicative competence of students of technical university in the course of application of active and interactive learning technologies".3

Materials and methods

The process of formation of foreign-language professional and communicative competence of a future specialist should take into account the specifics of foreign language teaching in a non-language university and be based on immersion in a foreign-language environment with the help of problem-based learning methods such as project, role-playing game, round table, case method, discussion, small group work, which is based on the idea of developing a creative personality.1

The development of creativity of students of technical universities is undoubtedly relevant, since in the professional technical sphere it is necessary to have a personality capable of making reasonable decisions in non-standard situations and organizing their implementation with their own competent opinion. Therefore, we believe that the use of creative tasks in foreign language classes have not only educational value, but also help the teacher to work on the formation of a creative personality in general.2

The development of professional creativity in the process of practical activity implies mastering system-special knowledge, skills and complex abilities necessary for solving professional practical tasks.

Today there is a lot of talk about "professional competence". The term "professional competence" became relevant back in the 1990s. Many researchers study the concept of "professional competence"3. Professional competence is defined as a set of professional and personal qualities of a specialist in a certain field, necessary for successful work 4. The development of professional competence is the development of creative individuality. It is necessary to understand that the socio-economic and spiritual development of society directly depends on the professional level of the specialist in a certain field. So today we cannot reduce the English lesson plan only to the explanation of grammar material, text translation and checking homework. The students expect from the teacher an interesting country study material or a discussion of a new movie. In all this the teacher should both demonstrate the professional competence and contribute in

every possible way to the development and formation of foreign language professional and communicative competence of technical students1.

Based on modern2 publications 3, we believe that the main goal of education in modernization is to prepare a diversely developed personality, as well as the development and formation of foreign-language professional and communicative competence of students by means of a foreign language on the basis of using problem-based learning methods (active and interactive technologies) in foreign language classes. Active participation of students of technical specialties in scientific conferences, forums, competitions and olympiads in foreign languages also contributes to the development of foreign-language professional and communicative competence.4

Let's take a closer look at how teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages successfully develop and form foreign-language professional and communicative competence of students of technical specialties5 . Results and discussions

One of the ways to activate students' oral communication skills is a round-table method. This is one of the most popular and favorite forms of conducting classes in which students exchange opinions on various issues and problems in a creative and relaxed atmosphere. The discussion of the topic is often supported by multimedia presentations. It is worth noting that when choosing topics for a "round table", the teachers of the Department

of Foreign Languages at Samara State Technical University are guided not only by the principle of a holistic and multifaceted education of students, but also by their personal interest. This interactive form of classes is advisable to use when studying the topics of country studies, as socio-cultural knowledge is an obligatory component of professionally-oriented foreign language teaching in a technical university. For example, the topic of one of the roundtables held among undergraduate students was "Innovations". The students mostly made reports close to their technical specialties, but there were also reports on topics that simply interested them (medicine, cosmetics, space, etc.)

Nowadays in the conditions of modernization cellular phones are used by almost everyone, they are improving every day. Improvement of a cell phone is a relevant topic for any user, especially for a student of a technical university. That is why the report on the topic "Innovations in communication devices" aroused close interest.

The topic "Smart technologies" was a bright one. Here students with interest discussed the topic of smart watch, which can serve as a control system in the phone. Such phones are constantly being improved, and this process seems to be endless.

Students of the mechanical engineering faculty presented the current topic of transportation logistics. Nowadays it is difficult to imagine logistics without full utilization of innovative technologies. Much was said about the well-known GPS, GLONASS, Espace Cat systems, which are a breakthrough in modern logistics. The excellent presentation further convinced the attendees of the relevance of the proposed topic.

Thus, "round table" as a cognitive form of activity of students helps to form the ability to solve problems, to strengthen positions, to learn how to lead a discussion. Here students learn how to state their thoughts, argue their points, justify proposed solutions and stand up for what they believe in.

The main principle of the round table method is to increase students' activity in the discussion. The purpose of the round table is to reveal a wide range of opinions on the problem selected for discussion from different points of view, to discuss controversial issues related to the problem and to reach a consensus \

The task of the round table is to mobilize and activate students to solve specific current problems, so the round table has specific features, for example, during the discussion students express not a general, but a personal point of view2. It may arise spontaneously and not be formulated precisely. Such personalized information should be treated especially thoughtfully3. In the process of a round table there can be polyphony, which corresponds to

the atmosphere of emotional interest and intellectual creativity1. But this is what makes the work of the presenter and participants difficult. In the midst of this polyphony, the presenter needs to give everyone a chance to speak and continue to maintain the discussion atmosphere which is the main part of a round table on any topic.

When organizing a round table or preparing a student to participate in it, the teacher formulates the problem and the goal of the discussion. The rules are set to speak, to listen attentively to other students and to ask questions2.

Comparing the goals and objectives of the round tables of the past years, we came to the conclusion that the framework of cognitive interests can be expanded and deepened by the example of the round table that took place in the fall of 2022. More than 30 Russian and international students of Samara Technical University participated in the round table "We are different, we are together!" The students from different faculties of 1-3 courses participated in the round table. Each report was accompanied by a presentation. The students made very interesting, bright and informative presentations, which helped to visualize the topic. During the preparation for the reports the students worked with a large amount of information in a foreign language, which enriched their vocabulary in the professional sphere, broadened their horizons and knowledge of country studies. In addition, the students learned to ask questions correctly. Since the action was not limited to the presentation of their reports, each speaker was asked questions after the presentation. And here a new dialogue was born between the speaker and the audience, teachers were also included in the dialogue. The participants of the round table discussed, argued and proved. It should be noted that all this action took place in English. The students were liberated, spoke without fear of making mistakes. This gave them courage and self-confidence. The students asked questions on topics of concern to them, such as religious extremism, inter-ethnic marriages, attitude to the older generation, the importance of gaining knowledge and proper understanding of religious faith. All participants of the roundtable agreed that today there are many issues that should be discussed. The main thing is that people should not forget that there should be unity among them.

Conclusion

So, the use of one of the methods of problem-based learning, namely, the round table has been invaluable for students of technical specialties, increasing their intellectual level, teaching them to conduct a competent conversation on a given topic, as well as expanding their vocabulary. The round table method, as one of the active forms of education, allowing to deepen the cognitive activity of students and strengthen their objective position, has great opportunities for discussing complex and current issues in any professional sphere1. The idea of holding "round tables" consists in the meeting of like-minded people, seeking to find a common solution to a particular issue in the format of a given topic, as well as in the opportunity for everyone to enter into a discussion or polemic on issues of interest. Discussion of the problem, exchange of opinions, valuable experience, establishment of close contacts, search for additional opportunities and discussion when discussing current issues gives the "round table" dynamism and eccentricity. The round table method is a kind of originally constructed educational process that teaches creative thinking in learning a foreign language, while developing foreign language professional and communicative competence of future engineers2.
