First data on Dolichopodidae from the Tigirekskii Nature Reserve resulted from the short-term visit (July, 2014) are presented. All the collected species (20) were recorded for the first time in Altai Territory of Russia. Achalcus nigropunctatus Pollet & Brunhes, 1996 is recorded for the first time for the country and for eastern Palaearctic fauna. Light micrographs of key characters of A. nigropunctatus are included.

First data on Dolichopodidae (Diptera) of the Tigirekskii Nature

Reserve (Altai Territory, Russia)

First data on Dolichopodidae from the Tigirekskii Nature Reserve resulted from the short-term visit (July, 2014) are presented. All the collected species (20) were recorded for the first time in Altai Territory of Russia. Achalcus nigropunctatus Pollet & Brunhes, 1996 is recorded for the first time for the country and for eastern Palaearctic fauna. Light micrographs of key characters of A. nigropunctatus are included. Key words: Diptera, Dolichopodidae, Palearctic Region, Altai Territory, new record, fauna.

Introduction

The Tigirekskii Nature Reserve is situated in the Zmeinogorskii, Tretyakovskii and Krasnoshchekovskii districts of Altai Territory. It was established in 1999, and covers a total area of 41,505 ha. The terrain is mostly mid-level mountains with domed tops. The fauna of long-legged flies (Dolichopodidae) of the Nature Reserve remained unstudied (Davvdov. 2011).

The material for this study has been collected by Dr. I.V. Shamshev (St. Petersburg) during a 2014 short-term expedition. In addition, one male of Hydrophorus Fallen, 1823, was taken by Dr. O. Kosterin (Novosibirsk) in 2007. This paper presents the new species records in detail. Records of 20 species listed below are arranged alphabetically by genus. Information on world distribution for each species listed follows Grichanov (2014). Type localities are provided and country lists are arranged alphabetically. Material of the newly-recorded species is deposited at the Zoological Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia. All specimens are mounted on pins and placed in the museum drawers. Images have been captured with a ®Zeiss Discovery V-12 stereomicroscope and ®AxioCam MRc5 camera attachment.

Conclusion

When studying recent Diptera catalogs, I have found that the faunas of the long-legged flies of Altai Territory (Altaiskii Krai) and Altai Republic (formerly Gorno-Altai Oblast or Gorno-Altai Republic) are not divided, and species distribution lists include both regions under the name "Altai" (e.g. Negrobov et al., 2013; Grichanov, 2014). Therefore, I have examined intensively old and recent literature containing original collection data and revealed that all dolichopodid species records from Altai belong to the Altai Republic, and none species was reported from the present Altai Territory. Dolichopodidae of the Altai Republic were recently reviewed (Grichanov, 2007; Negrobov & Barkalov, 2010), containing about 80 species (Negrobov et al., 2013).

A short-term visit of Dr. I.V. Shamshev (St. Petersburg) to the Tigirekskii Nature Reserve has resulted in collection of 19 dolichopodid species. All they are new for the Altai Territory, as well as Hydrophorus callostomusfound not far from the Nature Reserve borders. It means that possible faunal composition of the family must be several times more diverse there, being probably richer than the fauna of Altai Republic, which has a less number of ecoregions than the Altai Territory.

Most collected species are widespread across Palaearctic Region or even across Holarctic Realm; nevertheless, Dolichopus claviger, Medetera pallipes and Teuchophorus nigricosta are rare species in the eastern Palaearctic, and Achalcusnigropunctatusis collected for the first time outside West Europe.
