EXPERIENCE OF NATURAL HISTORICAL AND MODERN USE OF MUD CURE

Muradov S.V., Klochkov A.A.

Historically mud cure was used in our country earlier than in Europe, Astrakhan and Crimea khanates, where from it was spread all along Russia, including Siberia and the Far East. The presence of mud fields in the places of historical people habitation manifests the problem of traditional mud cure in the form of natural baths, mud applications. The traditional mud cure was developed together with traditional balneology, i.e. mud substratum was applied to the body or the body was immersed into the medical mud and washed by thermomineral water. After the experience of using mud treatment of many people of Siberia and the Far East determined their effectiveness during the cure of catarrhal illness, base-motor organs.

Mud cure is purposeful, methodic grounded use of medical mud for medical prophylactic goal. Medical mud is a natural substratum which is formed under the influence of complex facts. Standards (conditions) are the optimal parameters of medical mud; they include physical, physio-chemical, chemical, biological

characteristics. The fine dispersed state, the presence of organic matter, colloid complex, specific microorganism are emphasized in the short description of these characteristics. There are the parameters of mud characteristics that determine its standards. Ecological state of mud is characterized by the degree of pollutants - mechanical, chemical, biological (microbe). Control over these parameters and methods of standards restoration are the most important ecological problems of mud cure.

Natural interaction of ground mud and sludge scurf with the components of biota shows the complex structure of such influence. Unripe medical mud (taken from the water-basin) with the great content of organic substance (about 19%) has neutral and weak acid reaction of high disperse and contains rich micro flora, including simple invertebrates, bacteria and fungi. These living organisms produce biologically active

substances (BAS), including vitamins, hormone-like substances, ferments, etc. In ordinary communities BAS are processed between the members of the community in trophic and signal interaction. Mud surrounding has a thin (1-2 cm) active layer as the exceptional peculiarity where exist the components of biota. Next layers of mud preserve in areas between elements of BAS and keep them for uncertain time.

Natural influence of mud and sludge scurf on mammals is characterized by marked immune stimulated action. The contacts of animals with substratum, containing humus is the necessary part of their existence. Some paradoxical cases of unsuccessful settling of buffalos, lead for the mass mortality of animals, because of lack of everyday possibility for them to be in mud basin which is typical for traditional places of habitat of these animals are known.

Ripe mud, which is formed in closed surrounding, in warming-up to 45° C in condition of mixing, contains lesser number of organic substances (10-12%) but in colloid complex it contains hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, acids. Such surroundings sharply constricts the biodiversity of living organisms ejecting the microbes-polluters reducing BAS.

Modern methods of the medical mud use include local and general applications of warmed mud on the body, effects upon local and reflex zones, and also influence upon accupunctural points in the lines of oriental medicine. Mud cure can be divided into spa cure and non-spa cure involving the use of mud preparations (extracts) in combination with physiotherapy methods which strengthen the effect.

The experience of our medical mud use in non-spa cure institutions shows that the extracts from unripe mud are more effective in diagnose of integuments for stimulation of generative processes. Extracts from ripe mud are more effective in purulent inflammatory poses. All kinds of extracts are initiated in action in combination with

electrophoresis, low power laser radiation treatment, ultrasound etc.

The conclusions about ways of preparation and use of mud could be based on studying of traditional experience of using the low-lying peat, sapropel and mud by Siberian and Far Easten people. This experience includes the choice of materials for cure for diseases and trans-preparation of mud substrata with activation.

We must remember that the mechanisms of inner stability of our organism-homeostasis are provided by with surrounding. The content of such ties historically was worked out by the people living in the specific zones of the Earth. Medical mud is the source of immunity and other demonstrations of health.
