Key words: basketball players of university teams, level of readiness for group interaction, sociometric status of player.
Relevance. The goal of the modern university educational process is formation of social and professional activity and mobility of students. Researchers associate the success of this process with the use of potentials of sports activity in staff training. University sports teams represent a social community and provide increased social mobility of a personality, his willingness to interact, work in a team, they contribute to the social and professional adaptation of students to university conditions and future professional activity.
The purpose of the present study was to analyze the level of readiness of players of university basketball teams for group interaction.
Materials and methods. The study was conducted on the basis of "Scientific and Practical Center for Physical Culture and Healthy Lifestyle" of Mordovian basic center for teacher training education (MBCTTE or Russian: MBTsPO) in Saransk [1]. The study involved students of men's (MT) and women's (WT) basketball teams of the first (24 persons) and reserve (24 persons) teams.
The willingness of basketball players to group interaction was studied using psycho-pedagogical techniques, making it possible to determine the indicators based on the following criteria: theoretical (knowledge of methods of individual and team playing tactics); personality (severity of motivational characteristics of group interaction, motivation to achieve a good result, status in the game, compatibility, ability to work well together, interpersonal perception, mutual understanding, cohesion, emotional involvement, responsibility for results); operational (readiness for constructive cooperation, activity, ability to establish the relationship between motives and goals of cooperation, willingness to respond to unusual situations). All subjects were divided into samples depending on the gender and sociometric status of the players in the team.
Results and discussion. Using the experiment three levels of readiness for group interaction of players of university basketball teams were detected and characterized, which are: low (0-49 points), moderate (50-78 points), adequate (79-100 points) (Table 1).
Players' status groups Levels
low moderate adequate
MT WT MT WT MT WT
Leading players 60,3 49,9 39,7 33,4 - 16,7
Marginal players - - 52,4 34,7 47,6 65,3
Outsider players 40,1 - 40,1 75,2 19,8 24,8
Conclusions. The findings suggest that players of women's teams are focused on the group interaction that contributes to the overall success of the team in competitive activity. Players of men's teams had the lowest group cohesion, desire for leadership, unstable emotional state, which affected the success of the teams. Based on the results of the study it is possible to detect, scientifically substantiate and implement pedagogical conditions of training of university basketball teams for group interaction, which will determine the tactics of game actions and contribute to effectiveness of the game.
