In this study, we obtained the data from the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database, specifically from journals. We conducted parallel searches using keywords such as "Chinese names" and "Chinese personal names" in the CNKI database, resulting in a total of 569 relevant literature articles. After excluding irrelevant content such as book reviews, consultations, news reports, and duplicate or authorless literature, we obtained a final set of 246 valid literature articles.

Bibliometric Analysis is a quantitative research method used to assess and analyze the characteristics of academic literature, including quantity, quality, impact, and research trends. CiteSpace is a software tool used for visualizing and analyzing citation networks of academic literature. It provides a method to explore research trends, identify research hot topics, and analyze academic influence in various academic fields. It has been widely applied in exploring academic research, scientific evaluation, and science policy formulation in different disciplines.Professor Chaomei Chen, who developed the software, is a renowned information

scientist and bibliometrician specializing in the fields of scientific visualization and bibliometrics [1]. In this study, we selected CiteSpace 6.2.R2 software to conduct the relevant research. Additionally, for aspects such as the number of publications by individual authors and institutions, we utilized COOC and Python to obtain the data.

1.Co-occurrence Analysis of Keywords

High-frequency keywords are terms that appear frequently in the literature and can effectively reflect the core content and hot issues in a research field [2]. Through keyword analysis, this study identified 109 main keywords in domestic onomastics research, with a total occurrence of 702 times. Among them, there are 24 keywords that appear no less than five times, totaling 319 occurrences, accounting for approximately 36.07% of the total keyword occurrences. The frequently occurring keywords include "Chinese Pinyin," "Chinese personal names" "personal names" "surnames" "English translation" "culture" and "cultural confidence" These terms represent the main hot issues in domestic onomastics research. The keywords with a centrality greater than 0.1 include "Chinese Pinyin," "Chinese personal names" "personal names" and "surnames" which are the core content of domestic onomastics research. In summary, these mentioned keywords are important in domestic onomastics research and play a dominant role in scholars' studies.

Figure 1 - Co-occurrence Knowledge Graph of Domestic Research on Name Culture

From Figure 4, it can be observed that scholars in the field of domestic onomastics research have conducted extensive studies. The important keywords include "Chinese Pinyin," "Chinese names" "personal names" "surnames" "English translation" "culture" and "cultural confidence" There are also rich connections among different keywords, but the overall landscape of keywords in onomastics research appears fragmented.

2.Keyword Cluster Analysis

Keywords are highly condensed expressions of the research content and can visually reflect the research themes, while high-frequency keywords can effectively identify and describe the research hotspots in the field [3]. Keyword clustering analysis is a method of organizing related keywords into clusters, which can help researchers understand the thematic structure and semantic relationships in textual data. In this study, we conducted clustering analysis using CiteSpace and obtained seven clustering themes, including 451 nodes, 887 links, and a network density value of 0.0087. As shown in Figure 5, the seven clustering themes are "name," "Chinese romanization" "Chinese personal names," "personal names," "spelling method" "character for personal" and "Chinese-to-English translation" These themes represent the popular research topics in the field of domestic name culture studies.

3. Analysis of the Frontier Development in Domestic Onomastics Research

The burst detection feature of CiteSpace software enables researchers to identify keywords or topics that experience abnormally high frequency within a specific time period. It also provides insights into research trends and directions, offering valuable information and assistance to scholars. Based on the research sample, this study utilized CiteSpace to generate a highlighted keyword knowledge map, as shown in Figure 6.

Figure 3 - Knowledge Map of the Evolution of Research Hotspots in Chinese Name Culture Studies

From Figure 6, it can be observed that there are 25 burst keywords in the field of domestic onomastics research from 1981 to 2022. Based on the occurrence time of these burst keywords, domestic onomastics research can be roughly divided into the following two stages:

Phase 1: 1993-2003. During this period, emerging keywords included "spelling rules" "character selection for personal names" "large dictionaries" "writing methods" and "author names" Among them, "spelling rules" had a higher emergence intensity, surpassing 2. The duration of its emergence was the longest (1994-2007). Chinese culture has always been closely linked to personal names. The history of Chinese civilization over thousands of years is composed of countless personal names and social activities [4].

Phase 2: 2004-2009. The emerging keywords during this period included "Chinese names" "name identification," "standardization" "name rights" and "spelling rules" Both "Chinese names" and "name rights" had a significant emergence intensity, exceeding 2. The duration of "name identification" was relatively long (2006-2013). The legal protection of name rights has developed in tandem with social and economic

development, the advancement of human civilization, and the strengthening of individuals' awareness of their rights [5].

Phase 3: 2010-2022. The keywords during this period included "Chinese culture" "English names" "development history" "cultural differences" and "English translation" The prominence intensity of "development history" was particularly significant, exceeding 5.0. The duration of "personal names" was relatively long (2011-2016). During this time, amidst diversification and globalization, research on name translation and cultural exchange began to have an impact in both cultural and practical contexts. Scholars such as Feng Weilan [6], Lin Yongcheng [7], and Wang Yingxi [8] focused on the translation of Chinese personal and place names in international exchanges. Simultaneously, with the continuous improvement of China's cultural soft power and the rise of interdisciplinary research, studies on cultural conflicts and cultural confidence expanded. He Wei and Mo Zaimai pointed out that the root cause of cultural conflicts lies in the inequality of international cultural exchange, where some cultures are more dominant while others exhibit a lack of self-awareness and confidence [9]. This highlights the importance of cultural confidence in today's world.

4. Conclusion and Prospects

This article utilizes the CiteSpace visualization software to conduct bibliometric analysis. It systematically organizes and analyzes the majority of literature in the field of Chinese name culture studies in China from 1981 to 2022. The research findings reveal the following: Firstly, in terms of research progress, Chinese name culture studies in China have gone through three major stages: the "emergence period," "development period," and "decline period." It is still a promising research field today. However, the publication of research papers is relatively dispersed across various journals and institutions, and the collaboration among research institutions and scholars is not very close. Secondly, in terms of research hotspots, keywords such as "Hanyu Pinyin," "Chinese personal names," "personal names," "names," "English translation," "culture," and "cultural confidence" are the main focal points in the field of Chinese name studies in China. Although they appear fragmented as a whole, there are still significant connections among a few key keywords. The research topics overall are relatively scattered and have not yet formed a systematic body of research.

Furthermore, in terms of research trends, Chinese name culture studies in China have undergone three stages: research on traditional culture (1993-2003), research on rights protection (2004-2009), and research on cultural exchange (2010-2022). Based on the summary and analysis of previous literature, it can be observed that Chinese name culture research has undergone a complex evolution from a partial to a holistic perspective and from foundational to in-depth studies. With China's increasing emphasis on traditional culture and the continuous enhancement of its soft and hard power, research on Chinese name culture, closely related to Chinese culture, will undoubtedly receive more comprehensive and in-depth exploration.
