глупого человека: «Kretin! So begann eine neue Kette von Schimpfworten.». Это слово сегодня используется как ярко выраженная негативно-оценочная номинация, поскольку метафорический перенос в данном случае сохраняется, вызывая у реципиента наглядное представление о неадекватном поведении психически больных людей.
Ярким примером переноса наименования по сходству функций является слово Buchstabe, которое первоначально означало буковую палочку, так как древние германцы вырезали свои руны на палочках. Для обозначения букв, появившихся в связи с новой техникой письма, была позже использована та же самая звуковая оболочка.
Метонимия означает буквально «переименование» и как термин употребляется для обозначения переноса наименований, образуемых на основе ассоциаций по смежности, обуславливает перенос наименования. Обычным, например, является перенос имени изобретателя на изобретение. Так, батист (Batist) получил свое название по имени ткача из Фландрии Батиста Шамбрэ ^aptiste Chambray); глагол pasteurisieren, существительное das Pasteurisieren образованы по имени французского ученого Луи Пастера, предложившего данный способ предохранения веществ и продуктов от порчи.
Итак, семантическая деривация является одним из действенных способов пополнения лексики за счет имеющихся языковых средств. Кроме того, можно сделать вывод, что семантическая деривация является количественным фактором семантических изменений, так как возникающие новые значения расширяют семантический объем слов.

Abstract: the article analyzes the texts, where a reader can trace the way the American national identity has been formed.

While dealing with this question of the American national identity, a person should ask - is there an American identity at all? What is its essence? In order to make these questions clear, we should proceed to the very definition.
National identity is a stable set of value judgements which creates a positive frame and context for the whole nation being learned and acknowledged by generations. As the United States is a young country founded only in the 18th century, the Americans being a "melting pot" of various nationalities, ethnicities and races, had to define themselves not by their ethnic, racial or religious identity but by common values, ideas and believes. The following texts managed to create the needed set of value judgements.
One of the aspects of the American national identity is the democratic idea of Equality and Freedom for all, but this idea hasn't come out of the blue. There are significant events behind it, which can be traced in the «Declaration of Independence». «Humble» and «long-suffering» people of the American colonies were tired of the reign of the «tyran» who was «unfit to be the ruler of a free people» and after the bloody confrontations they won the right to be called «free and independent states». The ideas of God as «the Supreme Judge» of the world and free people under God have become ever since the central point of being the American [3].
In «Gettysburg Address» proclaimed by Abraham Lincoln, the Americans are presented as the united nation due to the excessive usage of the pronoun «we», whose major enemy is the Civil war itself [1].
The American nation certainly has an image of a hard-working and profitable ideal, which is based on «Advice to a young tradesman» by Benjamin Franklin. «Time is Money» and a successful American cannot waste it [2].
These texts have formed a positive base for the reference. In most of the presidents' speeches, besides the exact quotations, a listener can find plenty of references to the core texts such as in Barack Obama's Speech in Selma:
«...than the belief that America is not yet finished, <...> each successive generation can look upon our imperfections and decide that it is in our power to remake this nation to more closely align with our highest ideals?» [4]
This striving of the Americans «to form a more perfect union» is clearly seen in the Preamble to the Constitution, which shows a people of the strong will and character but the point is, that this nation is already perfect [5].
Indeed the American people are unique because they managed to succeed in creating a stable national identity with their own bare hands, even though they were terribly suppressed by that terrifying, tyrannical nation, called the British Empire. With the flow of history we may trace the main important texts, such as «Declaration of Independence», «Constitution», «Advice to a young tradesman», «Gettysburg Address» that shaped the minds of the further generations and that contributed greatly to the creation of the positive frame to turn the Americans into the humble, long-suffering and good people, who established the government for the people, of the people, by the people in accordance with Nature's and God's Laws in order to form a more perfect union and to ensure their unalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
